June 2022 - Enjoyable experience!Food/Pricing - Super reasonable prices and yummy food!Service/Ambiance - The server was straight forward and friendly! Feels like I was in an old school diner.Highly recommend eating here for brunch or breakfas!
Wonderful mom and pop business that servers delicious diner food! Extremely well-priced compared to other brunch places on the west side. The brown gravy on their chicken-fried steak is delicious, and you really can’t go wrong with ordering anything here. Be warned that it is a cash business, so bring money or be prepared to go to an ATM!
I visited Portland for work and brought my two teenagers along. I was searching for an inexpensive breakfast place since my boys eat like linebackers and John’s was perfect! A quaint, small place, the couple running the place were so kind and friendly. The food was great and served quickly. My boys said the pancakes were the best they’d ever had! The price simply could not be beat!
One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had, starting with the unfortunate fact that the lady who takes everyone's orders doesn't speak English (even though they've apparently been in the Portland area for many years). I ordered: French toast w/ham (both were okay), hashbrowns w/gravy (hashbrowns were mushy and partially cooked, gravy was flavorless), and 2 eggs scrambled (they weren't scrambled). I found this place online, and went in to order food to go. Turns out they're a "cash only" business, but you can't know that unless you attempt to pay with a card, or do some extra, unnecessary research (it's 2022 ?) I wouldn't recommend this establishment AT ALL. 48 years in business, and the wife still can't speak English well enough to communicate with her customers. Extremely sad.
First time eating here, great breakfast and perfect hash browns. Coming back. And just a note, they take cards.
I enjoy the food here and the couple that run it are very considerate of a gentleman who has dementia and his wife passed away and he still comes in to wait for her to join him for breakfast. They don't always understand my order but it's still good food.
Amazing Place ..Very good food .nice little mom and pop restaurant...Great people food and prices..
Classic diner experience. The husband and wife team have run the cafe for 48 years. Salisbury steak and eggs with hash browns, coffee and great service.
Food is cheap and fine. I took mine to go and it was packed oddly, eggs stacked on top of syrup covered pancakes. My total came to $12, I gave the lady at the counter a $20 and said keep the change. She gave me a dirty look and said nothing else. Rude after a $7 tip on a pick up order.
Great food and unbeatable service. The coffee is excellent and the prices are unfairly low.
