This is an old drive in burger joint from the 30's. They have original burgers and other menu items such as a green river soda (one of my favorites). They do have ice cream items too. They have slot machines. All ages are welcome. I did take a picture a large part of the menu. I also took pictures of some event that will be going on this summer. Every year they have events.A neat thing you see when you walk in is all the memorabilia they have ALL over in the building. I think they also have older video games (like packman) that you can play. This is my #1 place in town to get a burger. On the other hand the older lady at the register wasn't friendly when I called to order. I asked if she could tell me about the milkshakes she has. She said there are too many and she doesn't have time to go through them. When I got to the restaurant (5min later) no customers were in there, just myself. We ended up not ordering milkshakes. If you like this review please give it a thumbs up.

They beef burger pastrami hot sandwich was missing the burger part. The pastrami was minimal on sour dough bread cut in half. 2 thin slices of pastrami and some kind of light sauce. Tater tots was a go and no complaints. Co-worker had the Jim Dandy, he was happy with it.Cool things on the wall from old news paper clipping to nick nacks. A sense of old school from the 50's on up. The wait is a bit long, however they are not bad with service A+ and I love about service. Lady who took our order was pleasant and thanked us for coming in. First impressions are important to me. I will have to think about going again. Large selection on shakes.

The food is amazing, some of the best food in Portland. Can’t go wrong with there burgers and fry’s. The service on the other hand is as bad as it gets. I respect and love seeing older people still working and having a good time. What’s not ok tho is to have a Karen running the register hanging up on people, and telling them what they have to do. I mean this lady literally is trying to start arguments and has no ability to please the customer, the customer is not always right, but there is no reason to ever be a employee and purposely act out of character. This place is amazing and I love it. But they have to do something about the the woman behind the counter. She said it was all over being super busy with 2 customers. If you go here make sure you are ready to be yelled at. Even if they actually did something wrong they will make it known it was on your end as a customer.

Best food in Portland!! An icon that is still standing knows its way around a burger, tater tots and an amazing shake. We recommend to anyone looking for a great restaurant.

I came for the vegan menu. The COVID protocols were thorough. The vegan menu was more than adequate. It is, as they say, NOT fast food. Coming here on my lunch break from work nearby I believe I will follow the advice on the window which suggests I can order ahead and pay with a card over the phone. I felt like I had been transported to the American 1960's. It was clean, service was good and it was nostalgic.

Old run down. Caters to their usual customers, while grovelling in the back making fun of new customers within ear shot. Heard them talk bad about two customers. One because they parked in "employee" parking (no signage) or because the wait staff was cooking so the customer had to get up and ask for more coffee. Only to be told to sit down and "we will come to you". Their food is all store bought. Nothing house made. Might have worked 50 years ago, but not now. Better competition in the area than this joint.

I came here a few years ago (just came across these old photos that I took, so thought I would write a little review). Anyway, this is a great great place to have a burger and fries (no doubt about that - which is what I had anyway), as well as a few good beers. I cannot say anything for their other food items, except that they have about all of the deli and diner-type breakfasts and brunches and snacks and dinners that you could possibly want. Their menu is big! Not to mention that they have many different flavors of milkshakes. I also love it how this place just has that classic old American feel to it, it takes you back in time when you come here. It has a charm that is very unique, and a lot of Portland memorabilia on the walls!

I ordered a Reuben sandwich with tots yesterday. First, I was shocked they charged me $11.00. I figured for $11.00 it would be or should be deli store quality. What they gave me was close to being burnt tots and dried up stale overcooked toast (not grilled bread) and I couldn't tell for sure it was Rye bread, with approximately 3 pieces of meat. Their prices have SKYROCKETED and what used to be pretty good quality has hit ROCK BOTTOM. I was on a 30 minutes lunch so I tried to choke it down. But my dog ended up with it when I got home last night. I plan on avoiding Jim Dandy's. It's a waste of my lunch time and my money.

I didn't get to check out the Cafe because I fell in the parking lot and broke my wrist. I had to ask if I could sit down and for something cold. Finally some one gave me a bag of ice.
