We have been going to this restaurant for years every Friday night. Recently we went in to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We have always ordered pitchers of margaritas with dinner. Could not believe you raised the price to $35. We know groceries and wages has gone up but your prices are way too high. We sure won’t be going there very often anymore.
Overpriced food! And we were charged $15 for a skinny margarita and my husband’s margarita was $7.50. When we ordered the price difference should have been pointed out to us. In fact, one staff member told us that they normally do tell about the price difference….The prices are not listed on the drink menu. And like another review indicated, now they are charging you $1.50 if you want a second serving of salsa or chips which I think is ridiculous if you’re ordering two full meals.I will not return the to eat.
Always great food and service when we go!
I come in here once a week, once every two week. Great food, excellent servers and bartenders, fun, friendly, simpatico. But now they have reduced their salsa from a large stone metate type bowl to a small plastic bowl that is probable less than a third of the salsa (see photo)And then they want to charge another $1.50 for additional chips or salsa.I like my chips with salsa, and then I like putting salsa on my enchiladas, chile relleno or chimichanga. I’ve never had to ask for extra salsa, the large stone bowl was always enough.I understand if some idiots come in, sit at the bar, order a beer then want to sit there for two hours watching football and constantly ask for more (free) chips snd salsa. But for the people who come in and order a full meal to be charged for salsa to put on their food, that’s just usury. So, like I said: great wait staff. Good food, but decision by management to charge for salsa for diners to put on their food is asinine.I’ve been coming in here almost 20 years, before it was Ixtapa, when it was Cocina de Garcia, Tonight is the last time I’ll be in here.———————————————————-/Ha ha! Their reply to this review, posted minutes after my review and exactly like their replies to other critical reviews just goes to show no one at restaurant or corporate actually reads the reviews. The replies are a bit that automatically replies with a canned reply to any negative review. No wonder they don’t improve. This really was one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. ??
I have been dining at this place for almost 6 years now and this is one of the best restaurants you'll find in the area. Friendly staff, consistently delicious food, great drinks. If you crave good Mexican food, warm atmosphere and cold beer, don't hesitate to stop by this restaurant!
If I could give a zero I would. For the third time in a row the failed to get the order correct. I paid for extra mushrooms… no mushrooms. I requested whole beans… no whole beans. I requested no sour cream… lots of sour cream. I requested corn tortillas… flour! What’s worse is I called before I ordered to find out how to order to get it right. I followed the directions and still… wrong. Like they don’t even care!
We had a Christmas party with 17 people spaced apart masks until getting our food. It was great food friendly people an was super filling great variety for pur group. Many had so much food we were sent home with the rest. It was very enjoyable an would recommend it to anyone to feel safe together. Meals from $11 to $20 basically. We will do again❤??
I'm truly saddened to write this review as Ixtapa has been our favorite Mexican restaurant in Portland for years going there a few times a month. The past few months, well since the menu has changed, quality & portions went way down and prices went way up. But out of respect & considering covid woes we remained quiet.1. Started by noticing the moment the menu changed & prices went up we were getting perhaps half the rice they used to serve.2. Fajita is getting packed with onions! My husband always asks [pay] for extra chicken and this last time as we opened our to go order instead of extra chicken he got extra veggies (yes onions ).3. We Paid for extra tortilla bread and they completely forgot to give us ANY.4. The to go tortilla chips were enough for 1 person We ordered 4 meals.5. We ordered 2 fajitas, 1 enchilada and 1 ceviche for the total of $90. I understand restaurant business suffered during covid but we don't need to get screwed like this.
Excellent food great service ..the ambiance is great but it would be better if it wasnt so bright. But no complaints here. We enjoyed it
This place is always a safe bet for delicious food! Don't let the fact that it's in a strip mall fool you! They have an amazing queso dip! The chimichangas are fantastic! Definitely have a blood orange margarita when you come in, you won't be disappointed!
