Once upon a time a bartender fell in love with a regular at this bar, back when it was named the Pub at the End of the Universe. Fast forward 34 years, or maybe it's more a blurry stumble... and the child of that love, found herself on a first date here. So that was... weird. The date, not the bar.Holy Ghost is an impressive upgrade from the former establishment responsible for my existence. Gone is the lattice work ceiling decor, and I think neon beer signs? I only went once, much to the disapproval of my Mother. The full bar is excellently stocked, and the Staff is fantastic. Whether you're craving a glass of wine, or an expertly crafted cocktail - they have it all. If you're hungry, the Electric Pizza Company is next door and you can even bring it in the bar... highly recommend. For anyone curious, love didn't strike twice at this bar... but maybe you'll be luckier than me.
Went here last weekend w my partner for the first time and it was so great! I can't wait to go back. We live just around the corner. It's definitely extremely busy on the weekends so expect to wait in line. But they have the best cocktails. And also cheap options. $3.50 Rainer and beer and shot combos. I don't drink so I got the mocktail recommended to me by the bartender with the blue hair. It's called the "lie to me" my partner got the holy tai. It's expensive but you get to keep the cat mug! It's so cute. I can't wait to go back, maybe during the week. It's such a great neighborhood spot.
I came here last weekend and it was super packed! Let me tell you, it's worth the wait. The bartender told me they just put out a new cocktail menu and we wanted to try everything! Unfortunately it was super packed so we only got two cocktails each but I highly recommend the holy Tai. Its expensive but you get to keep the cat mug. So cool! I also got the plantain in the membrane and my partner got a N/a cocktail called "lie to me" it was like an old fashioned but no alcohol. Highly recommend. Thanks so much to the bartenders who helped us pick our drinks.
Awesome decor, awesome cocktails, professional bartenders, patio space, great music. Took my wife here and really enjoyed the vibe and wanted to buy a hoodie. they don't really serve food but share a space with electric pizza company and 28 tigers to get your pizza or dumplings on! Shout out Sid and the gang!
Very cool and comfortable space. Great beer list and we'll prepared cocktails. We ordered yummy pizza and salad from the food cart that is steps away. Can't wait to go back!
It was a really cute bar and still neighborhood feel at the same time. Hip vibe and delish looking pizza. Didn't have any but will definitely be back to try. Some wildly pretty cocktails and great flavors. Check it out for a little Boo!
Decent drinks and the pizza is really good. The decor is kinda hollow and industrial, feels vaguely like a Buffalo Wild Wings or something, which is a shame. Might be the big windows. I miss the Pub! But it's nice to have something new in the neighborhood.
Was here Feb 2022 so check in may have changed, but their expectations on what patrons need to show the bartender (vaccine record? ID? Etc) weren’t clear. It was frustrating how this first interaction went with a bartender, and there was so much botched communication trying to provide these things. I put it up to 1. Can’t read mouths with masks on 2. Can’t hear much over the VERY loud, yell-over-people music 3. It can get abysmally dark here. Apart from that, the drinks were just fine. Good selections and specials, but the staff that served me didn’t seem very excited about it, nor me ordering, sooo it’s a big ol
Cool spot, nice to have a real evening spot in this neighborhood. Not much to offer during the week, but makes for a good night out Fri-Sun. Given the large drink menu, it would help if bartenders were a little more knowledgeable and could make appropriate suggestions to patrons that want to try something new. Plan on making more visits to this spot, perhaps earlier in the night before the riff raff starts getting rowdy.
My recent trip to Portland would not have been complete without a visit to this amaaazing new bar! The staff are kind, knowledgeable, and very cool, the patio is perfect for visiting with friends and their pups, and the cocktails are thoughtfully fantastic. Do yourself a favor and check out this new neighborhood haunt- the warm hospitality, hip vibe, and nearby food offerings make Holy Ghost a place to be. Can’t wait to rep my new hoodie back East (thanks Sid)!
