I've been eating hete for 6 years. The food is generally alright, some of the specials are amazing but the curry in particular is poorly seasoned. The prices are all over the place but you can eat cheap if you're careful. But the service is just awful. I've had the woman who answers the phone be rude to me several times. They never apologize or offer to fix your order if it is wrong/unsatisfactory. Really a little politeness from the staff would make me give this place 4 stars.
I'm not a expert in Chinese cuisine, but this place is good. I mean the food is legit in my opinion. I've been there for my lunch hour probably about 20 times now. My last dish was the orange chicken plate. The orange chicken sauce was AMAZING. There were big chunks of orange rind in the sauce (best not to eat those, but they add so much flavor to the sauce). Even the egg flour soup was a step above the rest. I'm so used to all chinese food restaurants having the same things on the menu, mostly all tasting the same and satisfing a craving like only chinese food can. This place has all those attributes, but it seems they spent a little extra time making their dishes stand out.
This was a very gross dinner that I was a guest at. Egg flour soup was barely warm, first indication of a bad meal. How hard is it to have hot soup? Upon figuring this out, the soup cups came out of a chiller. So once you put maybe hot soup in a chilled cup it's going to be barely warm. Same experience with the Broccoli Beef & Lemon Herb Chicken selections. Food came out hot on platters, but was given chilled dinner plates. Broccoli was hard, barely cooked or steamed. Chicken was deep fried patties that we had to ask for a knife to cut because chopsticks wasn't going to get the job done. Lots of Grub Hub orders being picked up for sure while we were there. What surprises those customers get, I can just imagine. Never give this place a second thought.
Hoho restaurant really lives up to its name! Actually, it’s more than good, it’s GREAT! Authentic, delicious, and large portion sizes. So glad this place is in my neighborhood.
