The biscuits are amazing but don’t overdo it since the plates are so massive
We got the uptown and the downtown shrimp and grits to compare the two. Maybe would’ve tasted better if we ate in-house instead of getting it as takeout. I am a huge fan of shrimp and grits and while I am not picky, these just weren’t as good as I was hoping for a place that had grits in its name. The uptown is a good twist on traditional for those that would appreciate it. It didn’t hit the spot for me but maybe that’s just cuz of my palette preference. The grits themselves I expected to be a bit creamier and and not just rely on the flavors they are hurried under. Did take out but noticed the place had some charm that would make it worth eating at the actual restaurant if I ever visit again in the future.
Fantastic place for a southern style breakfast in Portland. Eggs done right, home fries crunchy on the outside & soft in the middle, and perfect link sausage. The grits are creamy with a good flavor. And the prices low for the area. Service was on par with the food.
First time Visited Portland so we searched everything ? this place is one of them so tried it out ! Wow….wow…. The restaurant looks so cute and character so love it first of all and staffs are so friendly and easy to talk relax we had a great chat with black man and our server sorry forgot their name… but guys your foods are amazing!!! My first time to try Grits…. I never seen and heard this food and now I am only searching for this food…. But unfortunately Vancouver BC Canada seems don’t have many place for Grits.. anyway Do I will come to Portland only for this food? My answer is Big Yesssss???????
Took 45 mins to get the order, so if your on an 45min lunch like I was, probably not the place to go. I ordered a simple Turkey Sausage and Scrambled with Wheat Toast. This was Dennys quality at a premium. Runny tasting Scrambled eggs. Potatoes were done though, the Sausage was okay, toast was a little too done. Overall 3 stars. I work a block a way from it, so I may try again when I have an hour and a half to spare and I'll try something that's recommended. But I don't recommended what I had. That's a waste of 16 bucks. I rather just go to Dennys
Literally can't say enough about how delicious this food is! I'm from NC so I know good southern eating. This felt like something my Mama would make. Everything was amazing and portions were way more than I could eat in a sitting so leftovers are what's for dinner! I got the pork chops and was definitely not disappointed!
Great and timely service with delicious food! You must try the fried grits! So full of flavor. Definitely recommend this place. Chicken fried steak was excellent too!
First time in Portland, stayed downtown and walking distance from where we were staying. Arrived to a busy cute restaurant. Wait time isn’t bad, hostess and the crew are very friendly and accommodating. Great food! I had their pancakes and eggs and my friend had omelette. Great place to be for great prices and food. This is a must go when visiting Portland downtown.
First time visiting and we were very happy with everything! Excellent food, excellent and friendly staff and a nice feel! Even with a wait time, they exceeded our expectations on how quickly we were seated! Definitely recommend! Thank you for a great experience!
All. The. Stars. As a southern girl, trapped in the PNW by the love of evergreens and equality, I am THRILLED to have stumbled upon this place. Perfectly seasoned food, excellent quality, great prices. LOVE. Asked them to expand to Tacoma, WA so I could visit more often. :) Keep doing what you're doing!
