my favorite pizza in Portland-perfectly cooked thin crust every time-lots of cheese!-whatever sausage they use on sliced with sausage is AWESOME-definitely recommend a slice of the mushroom/green pepper/sausage pictured below if they have it
6 year local here. I just don't get the hype for this place... I've given this place multiple shots over the years. Each time I've felt that it's unremarkable pizza. The price to quality ratio is really disappointing. Anyone who is sober and says that this is some of the best pizza in PDX automatically loses credibility in taste. This isn't even top 20. There are 3-4 better pizza shops within literally 0.5-1.0 miles of this place.Crazy flop. Super doughy. Too much crust. Forgetable flavor. 3 stars because it's not horrible, I really like the vibe / layout of the place, and their slices are consistently big.
One of the best pizza places in town! We love coking here for authentic New York style pizza
Crust was thin, but not too thin. Perfectly crisped on the bottom but still the right amount of chew. Sauce was well seasoned with a deep but bright flavor. Cheese was ooey and gooey. We had the veggie pizza. Toppings were generous. Every bight was perfect.
We found this place about a year ago and it’s a marvelous authentic pizza style and taste…
I went into the restaurant to eat with my children and sat down to eat with them. When I was spending time with my family the female employee making pizza flipped me off and was disrespectful. I am shocked at the disrespect. The owner should be ashamed. I will never eat there again.
This is THE place to visit if you're in Portland. You may hear about "must visit" places but the list, to me, begins and ends with Escapes. There is no more Portland place to visit. There pizza is phenomenal and you get it by the slice or by entire pie. Enjoy a soda or beer with your delectable pizza. If you visit Portland or live here, have you actually been to Portland if you haven't visited Escape from New York? The answer is NO!Eat at Escapes and thank me later!
The pizza is always hot (they warm up slices after you order). There's all the normal toppings and this place is vintage 23rd Street. If you're around, hungry, and looking for a quick bite, EFNY is a classic!
I ate it cold and still pretty good. I like their pizza dough flavor. Pretty good but i don’t know if it’s worth around $5for a slice. Only because there are too many choices you can have in town for $5-6. I love how the guy makes pizza at the window and that’s why i wanted to try them. I have noticed that their hygiene is not very good. The guy who makes the pizza dough also touches other stuff and make them again and the other guy who works at the counter grabs the pizza with his bare hand when he put them in the oven or put them in a bag to go. I was really surprised that they can get away with that but i came here from England after living a few years there, it didn’t bother me too much lol in England.... or Europe it’s just so normal for them to touch food with their bare hands.Overall, i think i’m glad i tried them and the guys there were pretty sweet and polite :) pizza dough taste pretty good! Would i go back there when i visit Portland again? I don’t think so!
We wanted a great slice of pizza during our time in Portland, and this place hit the mark! :)
