Great food. We had wings with maple bbq and a croquette burger. Fast, friendly, tasty
The fish cooked too hard, black eye peas extremely salty, Mac and cheese well not impressed... Cornbread was ok...UPDATE: Nothing about being bitter MY REVIEW ARE JUST FACTS... I'm from the south so again not pleased with your food I received... You have a place that serves food, constructive criticism can be thought as negative at times but you can use what people say to become better...
I have been enjoying Erica’s wonderful food since the beginning of the year. She was kind enough to prepare lunch for my entire office, which we all appreciated. Everyone chose something different, but we all were more than satisfied. Yesterday I tried her SHRIMP & GRITS, and was stunned at the terrific tastes and textures in the meal. I’ve had SHRIMP many times, and have also enjoyed GRITS, but Erica’s combination is truly NEXT LEVEL! Thanks Erica! So glad to be a patron of your fine establishment!
Was so happy to finally make it over to Erica’s for lunch! I had the Fried Catfish sandwich with fries and everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked despite the amount of orders. She also gave a drink recommendation from next door to pair with the food if you need a cocktail or sweet tea to wash it down.This place never seems slow when I go by and I have no idea how she fits the flavor into this little cart. You can read all about how personable and talented she is through all the good local media coverage but I say just head on down and Erica will take care of you.
I have been all over Portland looking for a place that had greens, fried chicken, cornbread, and Mac n cheese.Somehow I missed this gem.Thank God my brother does Uber or lift or whatever because that's how he found this place.Erica's is THE ONLY place where everything I ordered was delicious. I have absolutely nothing but good things to say.
We were in Portland for a 4-day visit, and the first restaurant we visited recommended we make sure we got a meal from Erica's Soul Food Cart, and we are so very glad we did!My partner eats everything and orders the Salmon Croquette sandwich, wings, meatloaf and A LOT of sides. I ordered pretty much one of everything from the plant-based menu. Let me tell you.... when we got into the car, it smelled so good we knew we could not make it back to the Air BnB so we just ate in the car. I was taking some last bites of my food, feeling very sad that it was almost gone, when I realized my partner and I had not spoken a word to each other in over 15 minutes. THATS HOW GOOD IT WAS!Not that Erica needs to entertain us, but we also found our short conversation full of laughter, and after speaking with her for mere moments, you can tell she is very passionate about what she does.We will be back on our next Portland Trip.Also, thank you to South X Northwest Restaurant for suggesting we try Erica's on our journey of trying "Southern American" Style foods.
The wings were out of this world! Traveled across town from her old location. Would highly recommend trying her food.Was a little sad to hear she sold out of the star berry cake. Will be back for it next time.
I’m from Atlanta and have had a lot of boiled peanuts and Erica’s are the best I’ve ever had anywhere, no doubt about it. They’re spicy and they have rich, umami filled, salty pot liquor. Erica’s only southern restaurant I know of in Portland where you can get a sides plate and her sides are damn good. Her catfish is great too. Looking forward to trying her smothered chicken and shrimp and grits sometime. Plus, the way she supports community is endlessly creative and valuable.
Rudest, most unkind encounter I've had anywhere in quite a while. Was yelled at repeatedly while I tried to order, and I don't even know why. I do have a disability, and naturally answer a little more slowly sometimes than other people. But there wasn't anyone waiting behind me. I'm not sure what has happened to the happy person shown on Erica's website, but it's not who I emcountered tonight. I was so looking forward to finally getting to try her food, but she made me so uncomfortable that I had to leave. I truly hope she feels better soon, and that whatever is wrong gets resolved, or she'll lose customers.
