Lovely neighborhood diner. There was a celebrated table of veterans next to us, who were getting thanked for their service by quite a few customers. The waitress really knew her stuff and kept up with my husband's coffee needs and he goes through his first mug of coffee in a hurry. I loved my stuffed hashed browns, which were filled with all good breakfast things and smothered in gravy. The biscuit was amazing, soft and fluffy and crisp crusted. Happy they knew their stuff. My husband remembered Elmer's from when he came to this area as a child and it was a comfort visit to be able to have breakfast here after a super late flight the night before. Satisfying.
I would liken this to an upscale Denny's. A family restaurant with a menu that was breakfast focused with sandwiches, burger and some specialty items. I had the local grilled salmon with a salad and vegetables. The salmon had a western take with fresh avocado slices and a dollop of salsa on top. It was was a good twist and the avocado adding a nice touch. That said the salmon was over cooked. I prefer a medium rare center which leaves the thinner pieces still moist. It would have been 5 stars because a perfect salmon would have been unexpected. I will say the service was excellent. I never wanted for anything. I would recommend this place for a family or simple fare. It was priced in affordable price range
Our group of four had a relaxing dinner at Elmer's. The waitress was excellent - attentive, very pleasant and efficient. The only thing wrong was the hardest biscuit I've ever encountered. There is absolutely no way the kitchen staff didn't know it was hard since they had to pick it up and put it on the plate. I took a bite and it was like biting into a huge cracker. Thankfully the waitress removed it and brought me two pieces of toast. Thank you for that! Others in the group were very happy with their meals. The place was not real busy so we could take our time and visit. No wait to be seated,, lots of parking.
Service is amazing and the food is really, really good. The hashbrowns are amazing and I wish I had gotten them stuffed. Instead, I got them all the way,along with the Eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly fine, but the hashbrowns are where it's at.
Been coming here my entire life. Still Have great food and friendly staff. Wait times are often short but even if they were not we would still wait. Thank you for Breakfast ?
Cozy atmosphere, polite staff, very clean.Ordered breakfast at lunch time, cooked to perfection, food arrived quickly. A little waiting for waiter to return for a coffee refill which I attribute to how busy they were at that time. All in all, a very pleasant experience. I'll be returning tomorrow. Kudos
A nice spread but it wont let me upload. We found a big dark hair in the Dungenous Crab Eggs Benedict. Manager discounted that plate 50%...the other half we ate and it was good.
This restaurant is open for all meals, is spacious, has excellent wait staff, and has ambiance in the fireplace room. The food was wonderful, with very large portions, and the menu choices were plentiful. Seating was comfortable. No wait to be seated. We ate there regularly during our stay in Portland.
