Started coming here the day it opened several decades ago. But it's been 7 years since I have eaten here. The food is not the same now because the owner quit cooking at the grill along time ago, but it's still great tasting Chicken Terayki. I Loved their salad dressing before but it appears to be tangier than I remember although it's still good. I was little surprised to see they had let the place go. It's pretty dirty, dingy, and disorganized in the seating area with only 2 little tables and 2 chairs per table. It appears to be a storage room now rather than a dining area. A deep cleaning with a fresh coat of paint in the interior sure would help to spruce up this icon Terayki restaurant. But for now indoor dining isn't their thing since they have made it so uninviting in the dinning area. The staff were polite and pleasant to interact with and very helpful. It looks like takeout is the new business model here, so if your into takeout you'll get a good Chicken Terayki meal to go here.
They are incredible people, and make such good food. I support these guys all the way! Eat here you will not regret it at all!
This is apparently one of those places people speak of only in hushed tones. The chicken is legendary. Truth.
12 + years customer. Last 3 visits, I noticed a change. Drastic reduction on the dressing on salad and teriyaki sauce on chicken. Makes for what was very delicious dinner to a dry blah dinner. Will wait 6 + months to return in Hope's enough complaints has Du's reverse course.
Used to be good wish I could post a picture of my shredded tiny pieces of what they call beef. I've tried it 3 times since owners changed and I'm not going back. 3 strikes and your out!!
Been going here for over 20 years. Food is excellent and large portions. The beef yakisoba is my favorite. The original owners were wonderful and friendly. I assume the current owner is the cashier who is not friendly at all and quick with his customers. He needs to understand his place is a gold mine and should be aware that his customers are keeping this place open, not him. Interior needs a lot of TLC and not inviting to ear indoors. But what really matters is the food, which I love.
The place went down hill. Food is cold and dry/burnt. My parent went here all the the time and I also do too. I take my little kids there too. but the last two years is slowly getting worse. Used to be my favorite teriyaki place in Portland. The guy at the counter is not friendly now. Last time I checked the other guy used to work there went out to the other location. They must have have different people cooking too.
honestly the best food in PDX
So far in my quest to find the best chicken teriyaki plate on the east side, if Du's isn't #1 they're top three! The real deal! Healthy portions, great flavor, always fresh and only$10.75! Im guessing three or four perfectly grilled chicken thighs, a good sized but basic salad that has a tasty dressing that is similar in color and flavor to other chicken teriyaki spots scattered around the east side but well executed, and a healthy mound of white rice under the chicken that's been blessed with some teriyaki during the making of the plate! I do residential remodeling and Du's is my lunch spot when working in the area!
Was so excited for dinner tonight until we got home and unpacked.. ordered 3 pork/chicken teriyaki.. just chicken. One had no rice. Tastes good but not what we ordered. Wasn't busy at all either. Next time I'll open the bag and look before I leave...
