The food is SO GOOD and they serve such generous portions! The black pepper in the mashed potatoes is perfect, the sauces are all distinct and well balanced, the fried pickles are delicate yet crunchy and incredibly satisfying. I also tried my friend's order of the ribs which delivered all the crispy blackened texture I want on the outside of barbecue with the tender savory pull on the inside. Everything was perfectly salted and filling but not incredibly heavy and I biked home right afterwords feeling great. I was blown away and will definitely be back!

The best vegan southern food hands down, the flavor and texture of everything so on point and phenomenal! I am from the south and I LOVED it.

I just want to say, this is the first review I’ve ever written here. I HAD to; the food was in cre di ble. My boyfriend had the fried chicken, southern fried cauliflower bites and creole seasoned fries. The taste was on point with the real thing. The fried chicken tasted just like KFC and was sooo crunchy. The fries were amazingnas well and needed no ketchup or anything else.I had the ribs. OH MY GOD. It was caramelized in the corners and the bbq sauce was perfect. I also had fried pickles that were delicious and were accompanies by a dipping sauce that just made it better. The other side I got was an infamous bowl that tastes better than KFCs famous bowl.We highly recommend you give this place a try.

I ate from Dirty Lettuce for the first time yesterday, and the experience unearthed cravings I had long forgotten. The crispy, crunchy, perfectly seasoned seitan chicken—I didn’t know I had could have that experience as a vegan. I paired it with the infamous bowl—a savory blend of mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, cheese, popcorn chicken—and fried dill pickles. Each of these items came with exceptional sauces—we selected the ranch and the comeback. And the smell!! We could barely wait to dig in (the drive home was a long one, lol). We were so excited, I didn’t get pictures until we’d already dug in. Can’t recommend highly enough! The experience far exceeded 5 stars and I can’t wait to go back soon.

Oh my goodness!!!! I didn't get the pretty before picture, because we were too busy eating. Those are just some of our left overs. My husband will do anything to avoid Portland, so today when he had no choice I bribed him with Vegan BBQ/ comfort food. He was not optimistic. But, after the first bite he said "this can't be vegan" and then said this really wasn't very far to drive from our house, so I know we will be back. We had the ribs, fried "chicken", mashed potatoes, fried califlower, Cajun Mac, and fried pickles. Everything was delicious! We are asked all the time if there is anything we miss not eating meat, and we both immediately say BBQ. Now we can have BBQ again! This definately takes over the spot of our favorite vegan restaurant.

Definitely Definitely Definitely gotta hit dirty lettuce every time we in the PDX best vegan soul food out fairly priced and the taste is amazing.

vegan bbq? Completely exceeded my expectations for flavor - in fact knocked it out the park. We got the seitan catfish, ribs and chicken with gumbo, mashed potatoes and the mac. They were all PHENOMENAL. My favorite was the cajun mac *drools* Could not believe it was all vegan. The employee on Fri evening 1/28 was very helpful and sweet too. Good energy and yummy food. Definitely coming back to this gem.

Long wait but this tiny hole in the wall is very VERY worth it. If you're vegan and you like spicy flavor packed food THIS is a place to visit. Everything was delicious and I had the best effing coleslaw of my life. Can't wait to go again!

I think about the infamous bowl daily. It’s just that good. Fantastic flavors with perfect seasoning. Always hot when I pick it up too. I get an extra side of mashed potatoes to eat for later, but sometimes they don’t make it out of the car. The owner is the most polite and accommodating person.

I don’t normally leave reviews for places, but I had to for Dirty Lettuce. This is the best damn Southern food you’ll get in Portland. And the best comfort food I’ve ever had(I grew up in the south, so I don’t say that lightly). Everything was seasoned perfectly, catfish on point, Mac was heavenly. Don’t sleep on dirty lettuce y’all.
