Chicken wings were incredible. Staff was very kind. Salmon overdone. Wine marked up considerably. Venue is incredible.

Perfect birthday dinner 😊

My wife and I were in town for a wedding. We had heard very good things about departure and we were not disappointed. The food was outstanding and the ambience was fantastic. Our only regret is that we should’ve probably booked a later time so that we could enjoy a meal outdoors. It was a little too hot but next time will come when the temperatures are a little bit more reasonable. But it was a great meal. Especially enjoyed the wagyu steak there.

I highly recommend this place it’s so good and the veiw is immaculate

An excellent meal ruined by inept customer relations. We had enjoyed our meal of Asian-inspired cuisine and, contrary to some other reviews, had found the service to be prompt and helpful. The brisket was a little tough - I had expected slow-cooked tenderness - but the flavours were excellent. The pricing was a little on the high side compared with other local competition (such as Urban Farmer in the same building) - but the panoramic view (should - see below) make up for this. Well, so far so good: this was shaping up to be a four- or five-star review, but the restaurant managed to blow its chances at the last minute. As we were leaving, I took out my camera (which I always travel with) and tried to photograph the view across the river - before being admonished by someone I took to be the manager for using a "telephoto lens", which is apparently forbidden at this venue! (Actually, I wasn't using a telephoto lens - just a fixed 50mm standard lens - but I was ticked off just the same, like a naughty schoolboy.) Since I suspect most customers choose this venue for its rooftop views, any restrictions on photography should be communicated to potential customers in advance; and perhaps staff could be more diplomatic in conveying such restrictions (real or otherwise). As it was, the incident ruined our evening and we will not be returning.

We had a great experience at Departure. We were celebrating a birthday and the team went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. The sushi was fresh and the chicken wings were beautifully seasoned. This is a spot I would definitely recommend for future ladies nights.

Ambiance was great but super underwhelmed with food? Maybe set to high of expectations? Drinks were great and service was ehhh?

The restaurant was uniquely themed. The service was good. The food was not worth the price that is being charged. The menu was confusing as to what is allowed and not allowed for the various course options.

Outstanding creativity and refinement. The oysters were delicious; the pork belly is extraordinary and the newest dish, lamb, was exceptional. This only small nits were (1) there was a very small be very loud group near me that thankfully left as my food came out and the menu indicated that the lamb was served on a Sunuomo salad when it was actually on a bed of greens; it would have been perhaps better to serve the lamb over a wilted bed of boo chow (if in season). Lastly, the serve was exemplary with the added benefit of the perfect pairing choice for the pork belly and lamb (the Rambeaux Pinot Noir)!

Cocktails and rooftop are amazing. Food is delicious, great for a special occasion.
