My last restaurant review was about a place where I encountered someone sincere and kind. And here is another one. The guy at the register (and another guy in & out of the dining area and food prep areas) was refreshingly kind. His eye contact, smile, and voice were friendly, courteous, and welcoming. Since we have our fair share of neutral or negative encounters, the positive interactions and people we met here really stand out. The ambiance is great: part reclaimed wood and part industrial. Huge windows let in abundant light, which was especially nice on a warm spring day. And they opened the windows to bring in fresh air and a gentle breeze. We tried pizza week pizza which was a fusion of pork brisket, tomato sauce, cheddar cheese on a loft "focaccia" that reminded us of bao dough. We would have liked even more bold asian flavors on the pizza instead of tomato sauce & cheddar, but it was fun to try. The egg rolls tasted surprisingly fresh (not frozen...if they are frozen, then they fooled us) and had the full flavor of the chopped veggies inside. The lamb skewers were tender and well-seasoned. We liked the stainless steel plates too. It was quite enjoyable overall, and we'd come back just for the truly nice people. They made our day!
I came for happy hour and I had my doubts because I’ve had some pretty bad Chinese food since coming to Portland, but enjoyed the flavours very much. The fries were seasoned in a way reminiscent of street potatoes in Xian. The chicken wings were crisp and lip smacking garlic. I thought the lamb skewers needed a little help with the seasoning but they were not bad overall. Unlike most places I’ve visited in Portland, they used the right amount of salt. Portions were generous.
This is a pretty good place, and it's got small dishes so you can experience a lot of interesting cuisine with one visit. The fried chicken was a bit underdone and bland. But the rest of the dishes more than make up for that. There are some interesting chinese style beers here as well. Any kind of noodle dish is guaranteed to please.
Definitely one of my favorite dining experiences in Portland. Our friend brought us here, and they told us they found out about the place through yet another recommendation about a particular dish - the Scheczuan Chicken. I love spicy food, but this one ends the chili wars. This dish takes pride in the chillies that came all the way from the province of Scheczuan in China, so you can actually taste the authenticity. It's dry, flavorful, somewhat flavorful and spicy, BUT IT'S JUST THE EXPERIENCE THAT GIVES YOU LIFE. No kidding. Aaaah I'm craving for it as I write this review! The place is also cozy and chic, giving you that oriental and modern culinary experience. Staff were also friendly, warm, and provided topnotch customer service.
Seriously amazing, the flavors from these dishes are absolutely phenomenal. Pictured is the LA Zi Ji, Chengdu street fries, Beijing crispy wings. I would 10/10 suggest all 3 of these items, they have become favorites for me.
The spicy wings, scallion pancake, and green beans are all very yummy (and the green beans are a good vegetarian entree—they also have tofu). Lots of tasty options, but DO NOT get the tofu noodles—as others have mentioned, that item is flavorless. Additionally, pick-up might be a long wait from when scheduled during busy nights, which is totally understandable but be prepared.
Took an hour and a half to get some soup and chicken skewers. It was good, but for how busy it was it just doesn’t make sense. There were only a couple other people there when we got there, and they all also waited a very long time for their order.
Got the vegan noodles, dumpling soup, fried corn, and fries takeout (ate across the street). The soup was great and flavorful, noodles and dumplings had nice chew. Highly recommend!Corn was pretty good, and the fries were alright. The fries were a little soggy and for eating less than 5min after pickup notification it seemed like they probably weren’t super crisp to begin with, especially since the corn held up excellently. While most of the order was pretty good, the vegan noodle dish was lacking flavor and depth (as one other reviewer noted). It was as if nothing besides the noodles, radish, and cucumbers were added to it. Flat in flavor and very disappointing. For anyone who does not have a vegan diet I would recommend this place, but for vegans be cautious as at least one of the main entree choices is lackluster and a waste of money
I tried this places vegan options when they first opened and I didn’t feel they added enough salt or depth to the food. I waited a year and came back in case they changed menus or team but I still had the same reflection. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant only because their food seems inconsistent in flavor And just salt or depth. I haven’t tried their cocktails but at a first glance they seem fun and I might recommend this as more of a cocktail and light fare choice. They have great customer service and the atmosphere is dope.
Quick and very tasty. The wings and dumplings are very delicious eat it all!
