The restaurant is located in a very distressed neighborhood with a lot of homeless just across the street from the restaurant. While we were not bothered the location is a big negative. There were 7 of us. One got a shrimp salad that was well prepared and presented. One got a large fried chicken sandwich and enjoyed it. Four got various various fried entrees with French fries that were quite good. I had fresh catch salmon blackened on rice and vegetables. The salmon was dry and had limited flavor. The rice was barely warm and starchy. The bar area and adjacent dining area wash noisy with crashing plates and silverware being gathered for cleaning. Service was good

Oysters are from Washington state, the half shelve oysters are pretty fresh and fat, delicious. However, the shrimp cocktail was okay, not recommended.

The food is awesome, prices fair atmosphere is like being in an old ship at sea. The history is unbelievable the plates on the wall, the photos the model ships a must see.♥️♥️

A Portland signature restaurant that doesn't disappoint. Beautiful wood interior and historic nautical ambiance. Our late lunch service was fantastic and quick. Everything was fresh and homemade - you could tell in every deeply flavorful bite. They do have a couple of non-seafood items: we tried the chicken sandwich- the best!!! The fish tacos were prefect, and two were enough. Excellent prices!

My daughter and I had the opportunity to visit Portland Oregon on the day of Saturday Market. We stopped in to dine at Dan and Louis Oyster Bar. We had an amazing experience. Miss Holly was our waitress and she was very friendly and entertaining. Ms. Holly was so wholesome I thought she was from Georgia. She understood that we wanted an Arnold Palmer (tea/lemonade, Southern comfort). Her west coast hospitality was on point. The food was amazing. The shrimp (pawns)and calamari were delicious. The service was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. It was so nice to be away from Georgia and visiting the West Coast. The meal was picture perfect(see pictures) and it was scrumptious. The water was surprisingly refreshing as well. I wanted to bring the water home. Everyone was friendly and courteous... We had an awesome experience!

Well this isn't a place you can easily describe. It really needs to be seen to believe. The walls are loaded with nautical themed decorations. The staff were very welcoming and we got the luxury of sitting next to a cute service dog. We only came in for the oysters so it wasn't a long visit. We each had a drink and a half dozen of the coldest, freshest oysters. So delicious! Dan & Louis was a recommendation and so worth it. If we make it back to Portland, we will be stopping in again!

WOW GREAT COSTOMER SERVICE DEALING WITH A DRUNK!! Not me but very patient with annoying people which I was with tonight. Just one person in general. Could not control himself and the staff was so sweet.

To set the scene, outside was cold and drizzling. It was getting late and places were closing. We had just flown in and we were tired and hungry. On a whim we stepped in and were not disappointed. I got a bowl of clam chowder with some crunchy bread, while she got fish tacos. The fish tacos were simple and delicious. The breading was the perfect amount of crunchy, the slaw was fresh, and the cream sauce was light and flavorful. The clam chowder was hearty, almost like a gravy, with some pepper notes and plenty of meat. Everything you would want from a New England chowder. It was fitting for the night and we left happy.

I came across these old photos that I took a while back and I remember this as being a great place to have oysters on the half shell, fried chicken, oyster shots, and clam chowder. They also have some other seafoods, sandwiches, burgers, etc. Although I find it to be expensive here, and the craft beer selection could be better. Other than that, all else was good. Convenient downtown location as well.

Lovely Bloody Marys and delicious clam chowder. I cannot wait to go again for some oysters. The history of this place is amazing with tons of memorabilia and historic pictures adorning the walls. It's like visiting a museum.
