Canard has opened a new restaurant in Oregon City, bringing a French flare to the Portland suburbs. My wife and I shared the most exquisite meal we have had this year: unique cocktails, fresh NW oysters paired with champagne, soft boiled eggs topped with roe, bacon and herbs, a scallop tangerine reduction and steak frites. This was a meal that leaves you salivating for the next time. The staff are right on queue and eager for guests to have an exceptional experience,
The best meal we've had in Portland... And that's saying A LOT! The drinks were amazing, service kind and flawless, and food was creative quality and just plane GREAT
Canard on Burnside in Southeast Portland as one of our top five restaurants. It is really special. Every Friday we are in town we meet with a favorite friend and a couple. Every single time we go we all have the same top sellers: local oysters, steamed burger sliders, duck fare, beautiful salads, fresh local produce and always top it off with the soft serve ice cream with sprinkles at the end :-) Shout outs! Alise, Miriam, Chris, Megan, Ivan, Emily, Rachel. And the kindness and focus that is always present in Chef Gabriel Ruckers kitchen is top-notch. Shout out team Tien D. Now to top this off we were invited to Canard Oregon city soft opening on July 9, 2022. The five of us were placed at the corner of the bar next to the spectacular flower arrangement gazing at the kitchen staff and enjoying a wonderful tender of the bar, John. Nick oversaw the entire bar operation. Chef Gabe was enjoying his staff and team in the kitchen smiling with his classic green baseball cap. Our focus on this trip was to try the new dishes. We ordered the corn on the cob, the gnocchi, shrimp cocktail, foie gras dumplings, Texas toast, the seared scallops – fantastic! We then dove in and tried the Salisbury steak Frites, the Tokyo hot chicken tenders, mac & cheese, smoked pork chop, a wonderful crab seafood dip. Please note, this was enjoyed by five people sharing every wonderful dish. We tried two of the new cocktails, The harlequin and the scarlet runner, excellent! The local Oregon wine we had was the Shiba Wichern Pinot noir. Our friends N&A have met the couple making that particular wine. It was lovely and a wonderful price point. We ended the night with dessert; tropical banana Sunday, classic Sunday and the pine nut buster Sunday. And we had room for some oysters! Our favorite note, is our dear friend T went back tonight :-) Canard and Oregon City has made a statement! #WitteStyle Grateful. Mary & Ned W.
The chef's table dining is fascinating. Goes on to show the effort that goes into every dish. The chefs are really busy producing dishes of high quality for a bunch of people. The experience to watch the dishes being prepared was as fun as eating them too. Surely would love to come back someday. The server Nic was really friendly and offered great service. Overall a nice experience.
Super indulgent and creative menu, Canard is a must visit place for us whenever we’re in Portland. Foie gras dumplings are a most, the halibut which is new in the menu really surprised us, finally you can’t leave without tasting the duck stack, it will blow your mind…
can’t even begin to explain how amazing all the food and drinks were. Magical. Goosebumps.seriously. Also really great service and presentation and such a cute patio:)
One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. At first we were intimidated by the price, but found Canard to be unpretentious and completely worth the money. We spent only $60 each including tip for a drink, oysters, bread, a side, a main, and a dessert. Considering everything was extremely delicious, I’d say our money was well spent. We ordered the duck frites and the duck pancakes and both were incredible. The duck pancakes were so interesting so if you’re wanting something adventurous I’d say go for it!The Paris Brest for dessert was very fresh and made in-house. I wish we were hungry enough to try a few more of the desserts! The staff was so friendly! It isn’t a super comfortable place, however, as it is mostly bar/high-top seating.
One of the fine restaurants in Portland! It perfectly blends a great time with awesome food that is incredibly tasty. The place is small but does feature a fair amount of walk up seating. We went without a reservation at 6pm and got one of the last open walk up seats. Overall amazing experience would absolutely go again!
Food, service, and drinks were all amazing and worth every penny. Seating is limited so prepare to sit at the bar or by the window if you come on a busy night. Had the baguette, duck frites, salmon, confetti pancakes and key lime pie parfait. Literally all of this was amazing I have no complaints. Wish I remembered our waiters name because he made our experience so much better. Whoever you are, THANK YOU
My friend and I enjoyed the dinner time sitting in the chief table watching they prepared all the fantastic dishes. Duck stack is awesome and the foie gras is stunning.
