This place is legit. Most of the food here is as good or better than many similar places in Philly. The standard cheese steak is good but honestly not perfect or as good as some other options here. Still one of the best vegan versions I've had. The buffalo cheese steak is crazy good and my go to. Fries are phenomenal and the provolone cheese whiz sauce is somehow spot on with Chickie and Pete's, probably better. The one thing that didn't quite stand up to Philly is the hoagie rolls, but they're far better than most others around here.
Wow. Just wow. I’ve been vegan for almost five years and had never experienced vegan mozz sticks. I was absolutely delighted to learn about Buddy’s and ordered soon after hearing about them. It was love at first bite. Positively scrumptious flavor and texture. Thank you so much for making this vegan happy. The fries are completely bomb too ?
Hands down best vegan cheesesteak / Chicken cheesesteak on the West Coast definitely worth a stop and very reasonable priced
Buddy's is one of my favorite spots in Portland. Food is spot on every time and the owner and staff are some of the nicest folks in the industry. I like this food so much I can look past the fact that the owner is a Philadelphia 76's fan (I'm a very good person).
Best vegan food in Portland, no question! At this point I've had every item on the menu and it has all been amazing. The buffalo chicken cheesesteak has a special place in my heart but so do mozzarella sticks so what's not to love about this place?The fries with a side of provolone is also a must.
I fell in love with this place from my very 1st visit and bite into my loaded fries!! Absolutely the best fries I've had in Pdx!!! Rather you are in the mood for the fully loaded fries or just the fries alone-- either way you can't go wrong!!! The Philly cheesesteak and chicken cheesesteak will leave your mouth watering as well!!! ???

this is what dreams are made of! best vegan philly cheese steak i’ve ever had, bucket of fries is very big too. Hoping to come back and try soft pretzels soon!
Excellent food from some of the kindest folks in town! What can be said about Buddy’s Steaks? Consistent quality, great hours, and really friendly service. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and it’s all aces for me! Buddy truly does his best to make sure every sandwich and conversation is up to par and you leave feeling like one of his buddies. Holy moly, best mozzarella sticks I've ever had..vegan or not. Such kind and friendly service.. Portland is lucky to have them!!
