Boxcar is hands down my favorite pizza in Portland. Flavor, texture, service, it’s all amazing. Fluffy, crunchy crust, delicious crave worthy ricotta, awesome specials. I would recommend this pizza to anyone, especially vegans<3
UPDATE: reached out directly and the owner is super responsive and is addressing these issues. I love this place and can't wait to give them a try again. Will update when issues are fully resolved!I hate to write this review. I had been to Boxcar about 3 times last year and it was freaking delicious! Best vegan pizza ever, crispy crust, delicious toppings, best ranch hands down.Well I came here last month and last night. Both times the crust either wasn't cooked all the way or became insanely soggy in the time it took to bring it to their seating area. They have also decided to just dump huge amounts of tomato sauce all over the top of the pizzas. I'm eating pizza, not tomato sauce. I walked in last night and asked if they were still making pizza due to their back door being locked and it was 8pm. I just wanted to not be rude as they closed at 9pm. They guy was NOT friendly. We ordered and explained the issues last time and he was so defensive saying everything is standard and exactly the same. It was our fault the dough was soggy. Then, the exact same thing happened last night.These photos are both of the Green Supreme, the nicer pizza is from November, the pizza sauce covered one from last night.

The best vegan pizza in the whole country. If you haven’t tried then you are missing out. Their crust is thick and so soft. The combinations are very unique and come together perfectly. I found the staff to be sometimes not warm maybe due to the cramped space.but it’s okay . I guess !
Pizza was decent but had to throw the kale salad out. It was over dressed and the croutons were beyond stale.
I can’t have gluten or dairy. I’ve had a few pizzas that were good and allergy friendly. This pizza knocked my socks of and I will never forget it. Thank you boxcar!!
1000% recommend supporting boxcar. They’re keeping everyone safe, including their employees, and providing excellent service and food, all during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. The entitlement of the people who’ve left bad reviews is extreme, unreasonable, and says more about the reviewer than this business. Please feel free to leave this amazing place to those that appreciate it.
By far, the best vegan pizza I've ever had. Sicilian style, amazing crust and toppings.
As an east coaster, I am always cautious of “deep dish” style pizza. I must confess, Boxcar has blown my mind and changed my entire life disposition on pizza. The pizzas seem small, but are packed with flavor and are very filling. I am someone that can slam half a standard pie in one sitting, but these pies will have you full after one slice. The Bianca is my favorite with the cheeseburger pizza a close second.
Even considering everything on their menu is vegan, this is the best pizza I have ever had in my life. It's Detroit style, which means it's sort of like halfway between Chicago and New York styles (think deep dish but not as deep as Chicago). Their ricotta substitute is waaay better than any actual ricotta I've had. My favorite one is the cheeseburger pizza.
