This place was the best value of our entire Oregon trip. We ordered pizza and we got kids chicken nuggets. They have an entire line of beers on tap and I ordered a sour which was amazing. My wife ordered a hefeweizen. The kid played in the playroom upstairs.
You can tell this was started by a couple of dudes who like beer and pub fare and found a cheap place. The beer list has a good selection and the fish is solid. They have a play area upstairs for kids too, so this would be a great place to meet friends with kids and catch a sporting event.
Me and my gal a hankering for some fish & chips, on Sunday afternoon. After some extensive Google deliberation: I landed here. So glad that I did.David (the owner) was friendly and his cook was on point. Gave us some history about the spot… His Pops started it back in the 80’s.Got fish & chips, pan-fried oysters, and clam chowder. Everything was delicious, plentiful, and reasonably-priced. Fish was fresh, perfectly breaded, and not oily. Chowder was expertly seasoned… No pepper required. Oysters had their own delicious breading rather than using the same as fish. Home made tartar with capers. Also tasted like they changed their oil in the fryer often… A welcome change from most establishments.Had the whole upstairs (suuuper cozy - see pano pics) to ourselves including remotes to the tv’s. Was also a cool little room for kids to play… If you have such things. Downstairs had a fireplace and some comfy chairs. Dope spot to enjoy an early dinner with my lady on a sunny day. Will be back often!
This is absolutely the best fish and chips in Portland. Freshness and quality are the highest priority here and these guys refuse to compromise. They take great care of you and the food is awesome. Good beer selection too! We will continue to be loyal patrons. This place is an undiscovered gem. Well worth checking it out.
One of our favorites. I haven't tried everything. But everything I have tried I've loved. Hands down my favorite fish and chips! I also like that they always have at least two ciders on tap. We have eaten in and ordered take-out. The quality is consistent. We even got a to-go Thanksgiving meal (for free) for some family who were unable to join the family celebration. Plus, they are one of the largest Toys for Tots drop off sites! Staff is always friendly.
These people made all the effort to make you feel comfortable at an extremely noisy location (bar between I-5 and a busy street). The fish was nice fresh, tasty, the breading could have been thinner.
The food was delicious oysters were fresh fresh definitely wiil return.
Great neighborhood restaurant and bar
Wanted some fish ? and chips. Very unique old school Portland it's a must see. Very friendly staff . Ryan our server was amazing ? super friendly and excellent service. Highly recommended it , also kid friendly Very nice play room for the little ones.
Stopped here on a whim and we are so glad we did! We think this is the best fish & chip house this side of the coast! We loved the clam chowder! Usually I have to add pepper and Tabasco to my chowder but didn't have to, it was slightly spicy, delicious, and perfect to us. Everything was fresh and homemade. Rian who ran the place was so accommodating, informative, friendly, and over all really nice guy. We will definitely be back!
