A must visit every time we're in Portland (or LA). Creative and delicious donuts! Start was fantastic - helping adjust drinks on the order that was pre paid.
The pear lavender brûlée donut was amazing!!! I also loved the Meyer Lemon & Key Lime Curd donut.
Really good doughnuts and unique flavors! Our favorites were the blueberry basil and the old fashioned lemon poppyseed. The staff was very friendly and kind even though they were having an incredibly busy morning.
This is a new Blue Star location and it is very big with lots of places to sit and relax. There is also a lot of parking in Goose Hollow. They have the same good selection of donuts and also small holes in the fridge you can buy and take home as well as lots of different coffee. Not cheap so if you are looking for lots of donuts go somewhere else this is the kid of place where you buy a couple and share them.
Fantastic tasty donuts and great location. Quick service and spacious seating. Blue Star always nails the old fashion donuts. Definitely an iconic donut shop to visit in Portland.
I love this place! I'm sad the Blue Star in downtown closed since I probably would've visited every day we were in town plus grab some to take home. We got the almond ganache, creme brulee, lemon lime custard, chocolate crunch and lemon poppy seed. My favorites were the lemon lime and the almond ganache. The lemon lime was the perfect tartness, not overly sweet like most places. The almond ganache was reminiscence of a Ferrero Rocher. Creme brulee was good but I felt like the sugar crust was a bit too thick. I would've preferred a custard filled donut without the sugar crust. The chocolate crunch was my 3rd favorite, full of dark chocolate flavor. Lemon poppy seed is a cake donut and reminded me of a muffin, definitely need some coffee with that. I also ordered a Nitro Chai which I enjoyed but unsure if I would pair it with donuts again.
Always incredible. Consistently tasty and cooked to perfection! My personal fave is the lemon poppy seed :) pictured here are lemon poppy seed, original, and chocolate bergamot
I visited here while in Portland from Phoenix. Amazing donuts and quality. A little pricey but wow, they're good! Fresh, unique flavors and the horchatta glazed donut ? is stellar. The apple fritter beats all those other national chains and even mom and pop shops.
Portland is known for its donuts, so I did a bunch of crowdsourcing to decide which donut shops to visit while in town. The result was really clear -- if you're going to eat at only one donut place in Portland, make it Blue Star. Having heard horror stories about lines and donuts selling out early, I placed an order online the day before my visit. I highly recommend this. It turns out there were only two other people at Blue Star while I was there at 8:30am, but my donuts were set aside in a box waiting for me when I arrived. Ordering ahead just guarantees you'll get the donuts you want, when you want them. The staff was super friendly, and made the coffee I'd preordered when I arrived so it'd be nice and hot. I ordered four donuts, the blueberry bourbon basil, the buttermilk old fashioned, the creme brulee, and the tropical delight (a seasonal offering). They were all great, but the real standout to me was the buttermilk old fashioned. Crispy edges with a soft interior, and great flavor. The flavors are spot on here in general. I also really liked the tropical delight. If you're a coconut fan, you'll enjoy it. Can't wait for my next trip to Portland so I can get more Blue Star Donuts!
Amazing selection of delights. Dangerous having this so close!
