The vegan bowl is delicious - black eyed pea stew with rice and steamed veggies that are well seasoned, sweet fried plantains and a side of hot sauce. It’s good!
I just picked up Black Star Grill for the first time this evening and shared with my family. It was terrific. The rice mixed with the sauces they provided was incredible and the meat and the plantains were perfect. Overall great experience. The owner/chef was delightful and I look forward to returning. Highly recommend!
The chicken jollof bowl was amazing. Spicy though! If you don't like spice, you'll want to ask for a mild form of it. Also the guy running the cart is really nice!
Everything tasted amazing!!!! We especially liked the beef shish kabobs, but the chicken, jollof rice, and plantains were all so good, too. Pro tip: leftovers reheated really really well on the stovetop. We called for catering, and a little bit more communication leading up to it would have been better, but Enoch was still really good to work with and was very dependable. Would (and probably will) order from him again. Thanks man!

This was very convenient to take home after the wedding. The food was DELICIOUS, even the staff loved the food. Many of our guests got to experience West African food for the first time. Fresh vegetables, quality meat (much better than most food carts), tasty spices, perfect portions, friendly service - love everything about this place!

Never had West African food before I came to Portland and now I eat it almost everyday. The food is delicious, the service is friendly and quick, and the price is just right.
Black Star Grill offers delicious west African cuisine! You can't really go wrong with any of the menu options. The shrimp and chicken Jollof bowl is mouthwatering with the side of plantains and the portions are generous. I live out of town and visit Portland frequently and whenever I'm in town I always make it a point to stop by and eat here. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
