My first time. Gf noodles were terrible. They were a huge ball of soggy noodles. Edamame was mill-y texture. Way too salty. I'm sure the folx who work there are lovely. I wonder if the gluten ramen is better. If you are GF like me, I'd pass.

Someday I will remember to take a picture of the food before I inhale it ? the Akasura ramen is so flavorful and has never disappointed ❤️ I always try to take my friends here if they haven't had the pleasure of tasting this Oregon delight ?

Great service, staff were very friendly. The basil mango lemonade is bomb, and the ramen hit the spot. Will definitely come back here for more.

Sorry I don’t have the photo; I just dove right in. Fun shop. Upbeat with a youthful atmosphere. I chose the Akasaru Spivey pork belly ramen. Identifiable flavors of sweet, tart, smokey, and heat. Incredibly encouraging of a good day.

Sadly this place is no longer great. I was fine with paying 14 dollars for the ramen I used to love, now you have less of everything in the bowl, cheaper tasting everything, and while the broth was hot, the noodles and everything else arrived really cold, like pre-made in the morning and thrown in the fridge for hours.Don’t know what happened but it’s definitely changed a lot and not in a good way.

I get the vegetarian ramen from them on GrubHub all the time. It's my go-to. Today, they couldn't fulfill the order due to unforseen circumstances with missing veggie broth, which is perfectly fine. I love them so much and miss their ramen so much, that I thought it was super important to give them five stars. Tasty work, guys! Keep it up. I look forward to he next time you have your spicy veggie ramen available.

We dined here on a weekday evening. The interior was cozy and uncrowded which we enjoyed. We ordered the karaage chicken which was excellent. However we also ordered the shoyu and akasaru ramen. We were disappointed by the overcooked, rubbery pork belly, as well as the undercooked ramen noodles. The broth was the most disappointing of all. The shoyu was unsalted and very bland. The same goes for the akasaru which was also not particularly spicy. For some reason they were playing loud salsa music alternating with Nirvana. This was pretty obnoxious. The server was young and seemed vacant. They brought each dish in one at a time, so one of us had to wait for the next dish to arrive. I typically don't feel this way about Portland restaurants but this was a real disappointment. They could certainly improve by getting an appropriate music playlist, serving entrees at the same time, and work on their broth.

Nice bright store, good variety of ramen bowls. Tasty toppings, very filling. Service was friendly. You order at the counter, then food brought to table.

ramen was flavorful and hot. so delicious I dranked all the broth in my bowl.

The first time my wife ordered from Akasaru, she had it delivered via DoorDash. The second time, she had it delivered via HusbandDash. Both of these occurred within days of each other, indicating that she was pretty darn happy with her order. This meant I had to get in on the action as well, to see what I was missing out on.When it was my turn to taste their namesake dish, which came with a warning about its level of spiciness (please! do you know who I am?!), my body was ready. We ordered ahead, and once more, I drove across town to Alberta Street, arriving a few minutes early. Everyone present was incredibly friendly and conversational during my wait, in a way that has become so uncommon, it was almost alien. A sign of good things to come.I rushed home with our order, finding it to still be piping hot upon arrival and transference into proper tableware. The Akasaru ramen broth does have a fierce heat to it, almost too much for my wife, who could be heard sniffling and seen with watery eyes, but it's just perfect for me. The savory, umami combination of chicken broth, pork belly and bonito immediately warms and comforts you from the inside out. This will easily be my go-to order here, so for anyone looking for reviews of other entrées on their menu, I am sorry to say, you're going to be disappointed: I see no other reason to order anything else! Although, I've heard wonderful things about their spicy tuna poke don, and my wife has been side-eyeing the spicy coconut miso ramen, so perhaps I should hold off on carving our default order into stone. All that said, we've also sampled the side of kimchi (great! but isn't all kimchi great?!), gyoza (great!) and chicken karaage (great!), for the kids. There has never been a grumble of complaint from anyone in our house, and considering how finicky our kids can be, that's saying something. So far, we've never actually dined in the restaurant itself, since everything has been ordered and carted across town. Thus, since we're experts on ordering to-go, here's my take-away for Akasaru Ramen: don't skip this place, or you'll be Aka-sorry!
