I have been going to 45 East for all my EDM and Dubstep concerts. I have seen a variety of artists from Benny Benassi, Flux Pavilion, CASH CASH. Local Artist such as JSTR (First photo) All bring a unique energy to Portland and make the music scene what it is. The security is good, never had a serous safety issue as they have an organized team that’s on top of things. Staff is friendly, drinks are pricyish but you can usually afford it.Overall, great place, coming from a guy that’s been there like 10 times now?
Absolutely the worst venue in Portland. Not only are the security guards the rudest guys, who are not only unwelcoming to patrons, but flat out denied us re-entry (even after we got stamped) for a show I spent $75 on tickets for, driving from out of town and planned my whole weekend around for a specific show.Once you get past the fact that this place is located in a part of town you would probably avoid, it becomes clear someone spent a lot of money to revamp this club but at the end of the day, if your staff is garbage and you make patrons feel unwelcome, don’t be surprised if this place goes under in a few months. Not only will I never come to this venue ever again, I will be sure to tell everyone I know how they scam patrons out of their money. There are plenty of fantastic venues in Portland, but this is absolutely not one of them.
45East is just my kind of place and I love the availability for the "DJ" world to come in, for shows to happen, in the genres of music Electronic, Dubstep, Dance, EDM, Progressive House, Chillstep, House, Drum&Bass, etc... My first time there just this night of Thurs April 21 and I'll proclaim it was BADAZZ seeing Au5 and Chime there! They tore the show up!! ????
Thank you for everything you do to keep attendees safe and have an enjoyable experience! I’ve been to multiple shows here now and have always had a great time, and I feel totally safe attending as a female on my own. The first time I ever went to a show at 45, I went a little too hard and got sick, and a staff member waited with me and my friends outside until a ride came and brought me water and snacks. After a show last weekend, one of our friends got a little lost in the sauce and left the venue, and a staff member helped us find him and gave me a space blanket to stay warm while we were looking. The staff definitely shows that they care and I appreciate that so much! Love the new visual setup as well! My only dislike is that the drink costs are definitely on the high end, but ticket prices are pretty affordable so it evens out.
At the 2/19/22 Audien show the place appeared to be way oversold. Bathroom lines were absolutely ridiculous. Female security person upstairs obviously hated her job and everyone there. Saw three different people puke in the garbage can right in the downstairs bar. You could barely walk around, let alone dance because so many people, as you can see from the photo. I’ve been to other shows there that were great, but this was a really disappointing experience. I gave an extra star because almost nobody was wearing masks and they weren’t enforcing it, which we appreciated.
I love 45 east. I start going there 4 years ago. When it was fresh. A lot of changes have been made for the better. The lighting and production is really unmatched! The security is friendly and welcoming, shout out to Brian for always greeting us, he is full of good vibes and super friendly. There has been a lot of backlash and negativity the club has faced. Which 45 east is only 5 years old. It’s grown to be very successful and with that success comes learning curves along the way.Today I had the opportunity to speak to Paul, the owner of 45 east. He is a very caring and charismatic man who has a lot of love for his patrons and his team!He informed me the club is somewhat ADA friendly and works a long side his team to allow patrons to come as they are and feel welcomed and provide accommodations. There is a better and safer route they are taking to keeping all patrons safe. With this new route, I was assured all staff has been through the steps to being certified through this program. Thanks for keeping it plur. I will def be back soon ❤️
Update 1/25th: went with a friend again. Saw 2 bouncers without masks, coat check without masks, packed and various groups of people dancing without masks and not having a drink. They got rid of the draft beer and now sell 12oz cans for 8$. Also it's super warm. That's it. 1 star. Nasty. Never coming back.
So all six of your front of the house staff just tested positive for Covid. Over 1000 patrons were also quite possibly exposed over 3 days during shows, and you didn’t bother informing any of them? So then those people went home for Christmas with extended family gatherings, and exposed grandma and grandpa? Their mothers with diabetes, their siblings with cancer, their cousins with a kidney transplant? (hypotheticals, obviously, but you get the point)Really? You choose to protect your bottom line, quite literally at the expense of vulnerable people over the holidays? We get that you need to try to survive as a business.Trying to do that at the expense of people’s health and lives is atrocious. You should be shut down.
Such attentive staff members and phenomenal atmosphere, second floor patio with a killer view but better yet a stage upstairs and on the first floor. Led screens on the walls with visuals on the ceiling is a fresh touch to an industrial scene presenting edm and dub artists abound. Every night here is a refreshing experience proving to be a watering hole for people of all backgrounds. Tickets are always affordable, artists are always on point and they ensure your experience is more than you bargained for. If you haven't been here that should be your only regret.
What a great EDM venue. Ground control watching after crowd, security kicking out moshers - no warning, and free water throughout. Acoustics, audio control and visuals were on point. There is a coat check and a low key lounge upstairs with less intense vibes than the main event. Very pleasantly surprised.
