Really bad experience. We heard it’s under new ownership. Slow service. Really really slow kitchen. And the food was not served hot and didn’t taste very good. The gnocchi was bad. The duck was fine. The pork was bland. The scallops were not great and the polenta cakes they came with were gross. This meal would have been bad at any price, but it was also expensive for bad food. The wait staff was under trained. Eat here at your own risk.
Very nice restaurant with good service. The meal was very god and the wine selection was very nice. The ambiance was interesting. It is a bit hidden as the name suggests as it is on a lower level below the front street level.
Amazing food and great service! We have enjoyed SubTerra for years and it is still as amazing as ever. Will definitely be back.
Great service, good ambiance. Food a hit and miss. Drinks, salad, fish dish great. New York steak not close to medium request. Recooked and still really bad. No taste so they hid with herb butter sauce. Absolutely should not be on the menu for $49. If you go there, order something else.
A little difficult to find. Don't just rely on Google Maps to get you here. Call the restaurant for directions. Upscale, creative menu. Many wines to pair with. Prawn appetizer was excellent. Lemon chiffon cake dessert was sublime. Service is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere/ambiance is stark. Needs a little more warmth in decor.
Really bad experience. We heard it’s under new ownership. Slow service. Really really slow kitchen. And the food was not served hot and didn’t taste very good. One meal came out 20 mins before the other five. The gnocchi was bad. The duck was fine. The pork was bland. The scallops were not great and the polenta cakes they came with were gross. This meal would have been bad at any price, but it was also expensive for bad food. The wait staff was under trained. Eat here at your own risk.
Well all things change some good, some on the down-hill side. Went with my wife to enjoy a meal following Covid nightmare. New owners….welcome. Little sad, food was not what it was. Confusing food combinations, trying to hard to be different. Stay simple, fresh and adventurous but don’t try so hard to be creative. Noise and yelling in kitchen brought stress to our table. No need to be nasty! Deserts, well, no coffee available? Was not a choice. Could have had another 20-30 dollars out of us but it was as if I asked for poison To go with my desert. We declined. Determined not to return. We had traveled 60 miles for this but not again. Best to the new owners but not a return interest from this couple. Good luck.
My husband and I have visited here multiple times and love it. The wine always pairs beautifully with the meal that the server recommends. Overall it's a great place for a fancy dinner out ☺️ wish it was a little closer to Hillsboro ?
Enjoyed our dinner very much this evening at Sub Terra. The food and wine were great, and the staff was wonderful and attentive.
My wife and Sister in law took me out for a wonderful birthday dinner last nite. Our appetizers of prawns and my first try ever of bone marrow was quite delicious. My taste buds were happy. Gnocchi for my wife, Scallops for my Sister in law and I chose the Rockfish. All three entrees were delicious. Followed by desserts and we all loved the quality of foods and service. The only shortcomings for the evening was the room was extremely chilly and the absence ( still) of no coffee with desserts. Not a deal breaker but disappointed for us as well for our server having to explain why.I loved the food and the service and would recommend a less chilly room temperature
