We love Newberg and we love the food scene here, so it pains me a bit to even write this. The service we got fell short on so many levels. Firstly, our meals came out with about 25 minutes or so between them. I was served my mussels and the cucumber salad was served with it. Nearly 30 minutes later our burger and steak were served. Nothing to complain about with the food, just the lack of follow up service at our table. We drank a couple glasses of wine and ordered a bottle of wine as well for the table, the wine was great and the vibe good. This all came before the food and then we were basically abandoned. The water was empty for 45 minutes or more, no one ever came to refill. The first of us that were served had to sit there and stare at our empty plates for more than 60 minutes. Only after the entire table had left, short of myself, who was waiting to square up did we have someone approach the table and ask if they could clear some items. It had been, no joke, nearly an hour since those mussels met their final demise. I want this place to succeed, I/we truly do. But get your Shiz together. For the sake of this community and the good food you are striving to share, please, please, please don't let another table go through what we did this evening. July 31, 2022. Our friend from Germany was visiting, he seemed confused at the price of the food compared to the service, I can't blame him.
My wife and I had dinner at Ruddick/Wood last night with another couple. We brought a bottle of wine (paid corking fee), but ordered a cocktail to start. We waited 20 minutes for the drinks to come out, which the server promptly set down and immediately left. The bottle we brought remained unopened. The third person to speak to us eventually took our orders (I ordered the NY strip...rare) 25 minutes later our food comes out and my steak was the definition of medium-well (mostly brown with warm lightly pink center) This is only the third time in my life I have ever returned food to the kitchen. And after another 20 minutes go by out comes the fattiest NY strip I have ever been served!Slow and unattentive service...yet 23% gratuity is compulsory, overpriced for the quality of food, and poorly managed situation with the kitchen made for a truly disappointing experience.
Sitting with a cocktail or some wine watching the kitchen prepare your food from the chai’s counter is a lot of fun.
Five stars for the awesome staff. We visited with 5 kids (15, 12, 5, 2, 5mo) and 4 adults. Staff were super helpful and extra accommodating (we sat in back bar area). They brought some early reader books for the kids (who keeps that kind of stuff in a restaurant?) And for the 2yo, they jury-rigged a sippy cup for the lemonade out of a to-go container (like a soup cup with top) and a small hole punched through for a straw. Very creative and helpful. Would definitely recommend. Oh yeah, food was really yummy too!
First dinner out together with my spouse sans kids in three years. It was a surreal experience to have the time and space to have a meal spread out over two and a half hours. But it was delightful from beginning to end. Between us we had the broccoli gratin and spring vegetables platter as starters, steak platter and mushroom panisse for main course and cranberry Eton mess and Mexican chocolate pots du creme for dessert. An array of cocktails were also imbibed (highlight the foamy creamy Golden Egg)It is a pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff. Hope to be back again before years pass.
We always pop by here when we are out in wine country. Great food, great cocktails, great way to end a day of wine tasting. They always have one great vegetarian main.
Some of the best food I've ever had. The Mushroom Tartar appetizer and Hamachi appetizer were eye opening. You see dishes on tv and think, "how could that be better than a good hamburger or a nice steak dinner?" Well if you dine here you'll likely find the answer to that question. Also to note, the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Even during a four course meal we received sincere and timely check ins.
My boyfriend and I had the most wonderful experience at Ruddick/Wood last night! Amazing food and incredible service. When we arrived for our reservation, our table wasn't quite ready due to large volume of guests,(Valentine's Day and Super Bowl weekend!) and our server Claudia poured us a complimentary glass of wine. Claudia definitely made our night memorable, and is a true hospitality professional. Definitely the best service we have ever experienced in Newberg, Oregon! Thank you for an amazing night Claudia!
We came for brunch, and everything was delicious. The hazelnut french toast was probably the best I've ever had, and the bloody Marys were excellent- just the right amount of spice. Great ambiance, great service. I can't wait to come back.
9/10 would go here for the HOT SMOKING BISHOP! Foods good but tbh I was loving the spiced port wine. (Smoking bishop, look it up)Perfect for a chill quiet dinner with some friends. I’m a travel nurse and meet up here with my unit on my last day *tear*
