My personal favorite of all the Restaurants here in the Rogue Valley. Starting with the fact that you're in a remodeled former train station...the atmosphere quickly lends itself to a special dining experience. From wizardly blended drinks to the finest aged steaks, everything is whisked to your table by a friendly staff. Yes, you'll pay a bit more here but I don't mind spoiling myself and the Mrs. upon occasion, and it's great to even have a restaurant of this quality in our community. Eleven on a ten scale, always ....I encourage folks to support this wonderful place because I've lived in communities WITHOUT a top tier establishment (like Roseburg) and they only WISH they had a place to go as nice as this one.

We stopped in without a reservation on a Sunday night; the staff was very gracious and found room for us. Really fun atmosphere, formerly a train station, now with great decorations and comfortable seating. The wine list was impressive; we were happy to find good California reds (especially Turley!), and the food was excellent. We shared the risotto and chicken marsala. Both were outstanding, and very fairly priced. Aaron, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable and enjoyable to work with. Overall this was a great stop on our way up Highway 5, and we will definitely eat there again!

First I will refer you to my August 12, 2019 review of this same restaurant. I have been there several time since that last review but feel that last night's experience there calls for my additional comments. We had a undesirable waiter last night. He was often rude and condescending but would have some moments to politeness. Everyone at the table (7 of us) noticed his behavior. I won't go in to all the specifics but will start with the first snippy response he made was when my wife asked if they had their lobster ravioli (they were out of it last time we were there). He responded "it's on the menu" and his tone spoke volumes of bad attitude. My wife then mentioned that they were out of it last time we were there and this waiter replied with some comment about things not being constant in the universe - again his tone spoke volumes. Nearly everyone at our table had a similar type of rude attitude experience with him. He at one point said he had been "doing this" for 30 years. I assume he meant he had been a waiter for 30 years. I can only imagine he must have worked at at least 30 restaurants over that time because I can't see any restaurant keeping him on staff for over a year. Porters remains one of my favorite restaurants in Medford and once I think enough time has passed for this waiter to have moved on I will go back again. The rest of the staff was very professional and polite. The food was excellent. The kitchen staff at Porters has never disappointed. I suspect that anyone who works at Porters and reads this will quickly know who I am referring to. I can't imagine I am the first person to point out the waiter's behavior. My final comment is on the automatic added gratuity which is common for groups of our size in restaurants. I certainly would not have given a full 20% to this waiter and I am a very kind tipper. I believe a smaller (10% or 15%) base automatic tip would be more appropriate to allow me to add additional tip if warranted. Again thank you and nice job to everyone on staff at Porters except the waiter we had. Note that this is not a negative review of Porter, just of a specific waiter they employ.

Went last month on a week night. We made reservations. The food was fine. The service was terrible! We spent over $130 for 2 and we were treated like garbage. The waitress was incredibly rude. Overall terrible experience and a waste of money. The table was shaky, a window was broken, the walls were dirty, they burnt something in the kitchen and broke dishes. Medford fine dining. Take me back to San Francisco.

Staff is friendly and attentive and food is excellent

great food steaks, lobster ravioli

Excellent food and drinks. I had a few Lavender Infused Vodka Lemon Drops last night. My compliments to the bartender. And most definitely our compliments to the chef. Your food was excellent. Oh and the wait-staff, Thank you..! Beautiful building, timeless. Decor very classy but comfortable. We'll be back forsure.

Can't say enough. Absolutely the best steak I've ever had. Sprung for the wagu filet mignon. Not sure I can ever go back to usda.. service was outstanding. Beautiful building. Thanks for making my girls birthday celebration really special!

Honestly, just okay and definitely disappointing. Our non-alcoholic drinks were awesome, but the lobster was rubber, the steak which was requested medium well, was only cooked right on the outside edged of the streak; the rest was rare. For spending a heap of cash, honestly get better food anywhere else. As an additional note, I must reiterate that what was done too the lobster was unforgivable.

We are in town and wanted to eat at a steak house, so we thought we would give Porter's a try. What an absolute gem!! My husband had the filet and I had the halibut. We both loved the flavor of the food we ate and the service we received. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We look forward to coming back!!
