I had the lower-calorie vegetable omelet dinner that was delicious and could have easily been split by two light eaters (and they will gladly do that for you). The next morning we both had Chicken Fried Steak and eggs to start our trip north. The food was very good, service was quick and friendly even though they were busy and recovering from the Pandemic.
Wow this Medford Black Bear diner really has great food excellent service and good prices. It is usually pretty packed but they get you in and out fairly quickly even on Father's Day and such. Servers are always very friendly and helpful. Great location too!
Good little diner with plenty of options! I'm knocking a star off only because I ordered the New York steak medium and received it well done. I mean well done. The food was good but what I asked for verse what I got was not correct. The front of the house staff was a pleasure to be with! I'll definitely consider going again when I come back for business.
Our server was the only one there and she did a FANTASTIC job!!
was very delicious..and feel like home
Very friendly and accommodating staff that I can not possibly express how incredibly thankful I am for when I have with me my elderly mother that I am caring for. Service was fast and food was excellent. And they are not kidding when they boast of oversized portions. We both left with left over boxes and both enjoyed them they following day. Parking is a little precarious because of location/lot size & configuration. But its not a deal breaker by any means.
I stopped in on a whim for some biscuits and gravy. It was clean environment, that’s always a plus. Biscuit’s were cold and a bit stale. My over medium eggs were a scramble that resembled jailhouse bright yellow powdered just add water egg mix. The 3 sausage links were not great. Seemed to have been heated up multiple times but were still barely warm when I got themPlate looked good, but I won’t go back again.
We got take out for dinner and brought it back to our hotel. We've eaten at MANY Black Bear diners over the years. This one didn't quite measure up. I got a reuben sandwich, a BB Diner standard. The corned beef on the sandwich was sliced REALLY think, making it hard to bite into the sandwich and eat it. (Maybe if they had given me a knife and fork?) The meat was really tough too. The fries were fine. The food wasn't warm, even though we picked it up at the exact time they said we should. And prices are higher, but that is happening everywhere. Oh well.
I usually love the service and food at Black Bear diners. Any Black Bear diner that you go to is usually really good, but not last night. Front host did not greet us just took us to the table after standing in front of her for 5 minutes. Once seated it took the server 10 minutes to come to us the first time. Busy or not a server should always let a new table know they will be right with them. Once the service started it was decent and the food was very good. The host is very rude, unwelcoming, and not a team player. Last thing, as we ate another customer came in for pie that he just called for what was available. The pie he wanted was not available after being told 3 minutes ago by phone that it was there. Her reply "well that's what we have" and walked away from him. He flipped off the host and walked out....
Not the best diner in town. The eggs were runny, the hash browns burnt. Their plates were chipped and they charged me $3.40 for a tepid cup of hot water and a tea bag. They did have good sausage. It's too bad. It used to be a really nice place. We'll go to the other pancake place next time.
