What a treat! A trip back in time. 1000 baseball caps adorn the ceiling, and framed potato sacks and pressed tin wall tiles complete the decor. Straight out of 1946 when it was founded. A sign over the grill "This isn't Burger King, you don't get it your way" completes the sentiment. 16 beers on tap, and a rudimentary menu of mostly burgers. The burger was the biggest I've ever seen, and the flavor of "fresh, never frozen" really came through. Onion rings were great too, a generous portion, and even a little sweetness in the flavor.

How can you go wrong with Oregon beef burgers and onion rings???You can't ...Quick friendly staff and good cider.Personally I'd of loved a dram of whiskey or scotch but the cider was good and it's quite nice
We joined our family for lunch at the HELVETIA TAVERN. Wow what a great experience! Try the Jumbo Cheese Burger and their signature 1/2 and 1/2 fries and onion rings. The fries and rings are fantastic and easily fed 5. The Jumbo burger can be shared if you’re willing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Great food, great prices, amazing staff, a cool location. They also have outside seating with heaters in the back and masks are required for entry.They honestly have the best burger I have ever had!Please note that it's cash only but they have an ATM in the building.
Service was great today! Fast and exactly how we asked for it. The beautiful weather probably helped. But the jumbo burger was fresh and yummy and the fries were crispy and hot just like we like them.
What a guilty pleasure to enjoy such a tasty cheeseburger! It was cooked to perfection and accompanied with either onion rings, fries or potato chips! The onion rings were great, crispy and lightly breaded! I also enjoyed a Shiner Bock on tap that was perfect with the burger! There were several beers on tab to choose. Our server was efficient. Beer was there within a minute and lunch within 5 minutes! I like the playful atmosphere of the bar!
Limited seating inside plenty outside. Burgers are just ok. Home cut fries were crispy and fantastic! Service was fast
Had heard about this place for years and it did not disappoint. The burgers were exactly what we were looking for and the combo fry/onion ring plate was great for our group of 4. Can't wait to go back.
Simply the best burger anywhere in Portland Metro area. Crispy fries are great. Cold beers. Dogs are welcome in large outdoor dining area (seasonal). Tail gating seems popular.
