I had, hands down, the worst experience I've ever had in an eating establishment last night. Friends and I stopped by the Tap and Growler to have a drink. We were ordering and tipping heavily, enjoying a visit together as long time friends. At one point, someone came by and quietly said it was last call. We respectfully didn't order more food at that time, but ordered one more drink. We were deep in conversation, when the guy that had been at the register (short gray/blonde hair and black rimmed glasses) walked by with an outdoor umbrella and hit the wall and floor with it, hard enough that all of us jumped. He proceeded to do it again with the next umbrella even harder. We were trying to figure out what was wrong with him. Never thinking it had anything to do with closing. There were other patrons there as well, a very small and quiet crowd. Then he came to the table and angrily said, okay you guys need to pack it up and leave, you were told you need to go because we're closing. We were shocked. Nobody said they were closing yet. We would have respectfully left had we been told that. It was out of left field and downright disturbing. I will never set foot in there again, and I will warn others. My friends and I are all professional and respectful people, this was so crazy. It was so shocking and embarrassing. There are so many other wonderful places to choose from in Eugene. I've crossed this one off my list. I will not be subjected to his behavior again.NOTE: I will say that the cook was just wonderful and really friendly. In fact, he was so nice that we pooled together and gave him an extra large tip that he immediately put in the tip jar to share.Nice that you doubled down and shifted blame on the patrons in your reply which just made it worse. My response was entirely after we were treated horribly and umbrellas were slammed. A shame. It was unnerving. My stomach literally feels sick when I think about it. A terrible end to a wonderful night with friends.

Everything was going great (the guy who was cooking is a gem!) until the guy behind the bar with the short white hair SNAPPED! I've never seen anything like it.. We were 1 of 2 tables that were still left when he started slamming outside umbrella stands on the floor near where we were sitting. It startled the heck out of us. I thought maybe he dropped something until he did it again. Then he barked that it was time to pack up and get out, not in a nice way, he was so incredibly rude! We had been told it was last call, but no one came back around to even tell us it was time to leave yet... not once. We were good customers, too, tipping generously and quietly chatting. He was passive-aggressive and rude and I feel sorry for anyone who might have to work with him. IF YOU ARE THE OWNER you need to get the guy with the shorter white hair outta your restaurants. We used to come throughout the year but we won't be back.UPDATE: sounds like the manager of this account must be the same person who was being so incredibly rude? The response is an incorrect account of what actually happened. Buyer Beware!

Delightful staff, great beer/cider/kombucha options, kid-friendly, love the open air feel, great music, fantastic downtown location with lots of parking options, and cool ambiance!

Went to the Tap and Growler on a Saturday night. We go out with another couple and are working our way around the valley checking our microbrews and food, so we are looking for pubs with a good selection of brews/ciders as well as food. Since we live in the mid valley we will checking out places in Corvallis Albany and some of the smaller towns. We usually dine early because by 6-7 PM most places are really busy. After 7PM on a Saturday there were only 8 people in the pub including the 4 of us. That should tell ya something.Pros:-When we showed up there was only one other couple there.-The bartender greeted us warmly.-We are able to find something to drink for each of us. (all differing taste)Bathrooms were clean. (shared with other businesses)Dining area was clean.Cons:-No waiter/waitress. You go to the bar to order food/ drinks. OK I know not all pubs have wait staff.-We order meals at the same time. The other coupe got there meal in 20 minutes, it took 50 minutes to get our meal after ordering( remember only 2 other people in the place before us).Brisket cheesesteak came out cold. There wasn’t a french fry longer than 1 inch. most were 1/2 inch or less.No one every ask how we were doing, Oh ya, kind of like eating at fast food restaurant, only this isn’t very fast and much more expensive.ratings:Starting point 5no wait staff -1 = 4long wait for food -1 = 3cold/ poor food -1 = 2----------------------- ------------Final Score 2Conclusion:If you want to come in have a good brew and not eat this is the place for you.If every other place in town is busy, and it is going to take 3 hours to get a seat and you like average to below average food. This place is for you.If you want to eat good food with your brew, just stay home or just move on down the line. There is approximately 40 places serving micro brews and food around the lower valley.Good luck.

Ordered food at the beginning of the comedy night and still hadn't got our food by the time they were closing and turning on house lights. They wouldn't even refund us so we could go eat somewhere else, they just said it would be a few more minutes and then we got to eat in a empty restaurant while staff frantically cleaned to get out of there for the night.

Check out Comedy night on Thursdays!! So fun, and wings are discounted. Great bartenders- killer cocktails

A good spot in a busy part of town (at least on a Saturday night!). Plenty of beer options for all preferences, with big full 16oz pours. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. My only complaints are that the beer menu is projected on a textured wall which made it a little hard to read, and the bathrooms are deep within the shared building and require a code.

Awesome spot! My husband and I came here for cider and nachos. The cheese, black beans, fire-roasted salsa, jalapeños, and fresh avocado made the perfect combination!

We live in the neighborhood and have been to Tap & Growler on numerous occasions. This, unfortunately, was possibly the worst experience we've had. The place was relatively full but we were able to find a table after walking in. We quickly scanned the QR code for the menu and ordered. Two beers and two salads. The beers came rather quick, but our salads took over 45 minutes. It was noticeably slow, for salads. This main issue I had was the Cobb salads were $21 each!! I might expect to pay that for a salad at Marche, but not at a bar. And the salad was overly disappointing when it arrived. I totally get the supply chain issues and how things are more expensive, but our salads were nothing more than lettuce, under ripe avocado pieces and chicken. Nothing near the $21 price tag.Like I mentioned at the beginning, we come here often for both in person and take out. Nothing has disappointed me more than the salads tonight. And I get it, maybe salads are not the best option, but it should be a viable option, even at a bar.I will say, the staff are always friendly when we come in. That's the best thing going here.

Great drinks and even better food. Try the poppers and you will have your mind blown. We love going and just kicking it for a couple hours. It’s great atmosphere and great way to order.
