Well while this used to be a hit spot for true genuine German schnitzel and other German treats, it’s not what it once was when located at the public house.With an unsightly view of the Mathew knight arena , no outdoor seating, terrible music, drinks offered in a plastic cup with a straw- everything about the atmosphere is no longer. And to add, they no longer serve their schnitzel with authentic mushroom gravy, i feel as though this is just not up to par with its once highly held standards.If you’re seeking German cuisine- this just won’t hit it.
The public house is a unique place to meet up with friends and have a wonderful meal with a great atmosphere. Pig and turnip is one of the few vendors at the public house. There is also a wide selection of beer for the beer conisour. The food was excellent and very unique for the area. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas. Dogs are welcome. This is definitely a downtown Springfield must try place!
Delicious food, cool atmosphere. The Iced tea is not good at all but we didn’t come for the tea so it doesn’t change anything for me. All the restaurants are separate like a food truck venue but indoors. We’ve been twice in the past month and it’s top notch. Dat’schnitty sammy thoooo! It’s so gooood.
The brat poppers are the best! Burgers are good. The purple cabbage side however is disappointing. It's served cold and in no way does it resemble the dish as it should. It's flavorless and limp.
This is for food from the Pig and Turnip only, not about the Public House in general, where it resides. We had 3 items from their menu, and all were a disappointment. The bratwurst was dry and under-seasoned (as well as difficult to eat- too big to be finger food and very difficult to cut their bun with a knife)., the kids cheese burger was very dry, and the other item was acceptable but not that exciting. They need to up their game.
The place is inside Public House. The food is awesome, I recommend the Bavarian pretzel. Love the atmosphere here, it's such a great place to relax
Sometimes they deliver their food with an acceptable result. Most of the time they don’t. I really don’t know how they stay in business

Great selection of food. The Indian food was my favorite. Have to go into the whiskey lab and they had music out on the lawn. Couldn't ask for much more.
