This is everything a NYC style deli should be, in my humble opinion. No frills, no trendy takes, just classic amazing food. The Barry’s special breakfast sandwich and lox on bialy were both incredible. This place has been around for 25 years and I hope it never changes.
First time getting a grilled sandwich here and it’s clearly microwaved. That’s not what a restaurant should be doing especially when they have such quality bread. Three stars because they usually are a four star place.
Barry's has been the spot fresh baked goods for a long time. Homemade soups and sandwiches with homemade bread. The espresso is just icing on top. A definite must have if you are around Eugene.
The food is amazing! Loved the pastrami sandwich, I ordered double meat, but you really don't need to. Desserts all looked amazing. The wait staff were all friendly and seemed to be enjoying being at work!(Photo is a double meat pastrami)
Great food and good customer service
I love Barry's! It is a neighborhood staple because the food is fantastic and the customer service is great. I'm originally from the East Coast and Barry's is one of the few places that hits the spot when I get 'food-homesickness'. My favorite is the lox on an onion bialy. Yum!
Happened upon this place and what a find. They make their breakfast sandwiches on challah rolls and it is to die for. Plus they had all the standard Jewish bakery noms -- cheesecake, rugelache, kugel, challah, rye,.etc. worth the trek!
I ordered take out from here for the first time. It was easily the worst sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. I could easily go to the store, buy low quality ingredients, and still make a better sandwich than what I ordered. They served it on a thin paper plate with plastic wrap. Very trashy. NEVER again.
The girl behind the register is great - the gal making the sandwiches who self identified as the manager is a nightmare. Owners be warned.Just adding a note since the owner responded. Very pleased to see thei quick response and concern. We truly want every local biz in our neighborhood to thrive but also to not have low standards. What I was experienced yesterday was a manager with no customer service skills, more interested in being right than making things right for customers, confrontational, dismissive, and eager to throw her coworker under the bus. When she told me she was the manager I was pretty shocked. The business owners are putting decades of a hard built reputation in the neighborhood and beyond in the hands of someone who doesn't seem to understand their role.5 stars for the lox bialys always.
Me the wife and the girls all enjoy the cheddar Kniche. It tastes like something from somewhere other than here.Their staff are a great bunch of people who work hard day in and out to make this deli what it is to us locals.A home away from home that you can eat of take with you. ;)
