Hot dish is mediocre at best, the "dim-sum" is just steamed frozen food from the same market while charges $$$. To be honest I felt bad at the beginning but soon eased after acknowledged the fact that the whole town is fed by the University nearby so everything is marked up and people have no choice but give in the money for whatever offered.
Corvallis is really the strangest place when it comes to peoples tastes in food. I would rate this as moderately poor tasting. Food is pretty, and has nice spices in it, but has odd overtones. I don’t know if there are additives or preservatives in the staple foods in their supply chain. Perhaps they are pulling ingredients from the store shelves - which may be highly processed or not fresh? The meals here were a complete mismatch to my taste in food. I travel a bit and generally enjoy what I’m eating, experiencing food during travels to other parts of the world, and locally in Oregon. Overall, it seems most people like it here, so this is just me…. On a good note, people are nice and there’s a broad selection of dishes. And it looks pretty.
Got an order (roast pork rice bowl) to go. Said it would be 15 minutes, more like 30, but worth waiting for. Authentic? Probably, as much as I know, but LOTS of Asian folks waiting to sit down and eat. To me, that's a good sign. The place smelled like good food. And I saw a lot of sizzling plates of exotic (to me) food brought out to the tables of people waiting.I'd order something a little more adventurous next time, although my order was good. Especially the sauce.Value? $9.99 for my meal. Decent amount of food. I'd say value.Plus, a great selection of Asian food, dry, liquid, frozen, spices, hardware available in the grocery section.Would I come back. Yes, for a sit-down meal in the dining room area.
This is coming from a food critic and self taught high level chef: THE FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.Pound for pound one of the best tasting restaurants I EVER. Real authentic food. Spiced PERFECT. Large portion size.My new favorite place in all of the WEST COAST
Really good Dan Dan noodles. They are also called spicy schezwan noodles. Very authentic and real. Restaurant is in the back of the HK Asian market on Kings blvd across from Fred Meyer. One of the few places that has soup dumplings as well.
Salt and pepper shrimp is so tasty because of the perfect combination of old bay like seasoning and salt, in the shell, a crunchy experience. Black bean sauce fish is an old favorite, just the right amount of spice, with carrots, onions and green peppers, there is plenty to eat for the vegetarian including tofu and broccoli with noodles. Something for Everyone and reasonably priced too.
Best Chinese food I’ve had so far in Corvallis/Albany area. I really love their XLB, har gow, fish in spicy sauce. Get take out; the restaurant has no ambiance. It’s located in the back of HK Asian Market.
Ordered fish flavored shredded pork and kungpao chicken. Almost no meat in either dish. The dish is filled with crispy flour. Not recommended.
Delicious! Went two days in a row because it was just THAT good! Found it yesterday and that's all I wanted again today. ? Highly recommend the soup dumplings and pork/bamboo shoot steam buns but literally everything I've tried is perfectly seasoned, tasty, and just mind-blowingly phenomenal. Can't wait to go back! ?
What a true gem. I ran across this place while shopping for ramen ingredients at HK Asian Market. I thought the back room was an employee lunchroom. I noticed the braised pig intestine on the menu and knew I had found heaven. As a true foody this is as good as it gets. I had the soup dumplings and pork noodles. Incredible!
