Food was okay. Nothing over the top. What turned me away, when I asked what made the Laotian taco’s Laotian? The waitress said the spices we use. I said great what are the spices? She repeated her self again I looked her dead in her eyes and told her We are Laotian! What do you use she stepped back and said ginger and dim sum seasonings needless to say that’s not Laotian. The food was defiantly whitened down ( meaning made for peoples pallets that really ain’t with the culture) the pork dumpling soup was simply phó broth. For the price of the food I wasn’t impressed. Lacking some bold flavors. I mean if you really down with Asian food you know what I’m talking about….
Service and food were both great as well as atmosphere. I have one very minor pet peeve. When I got the bill from the waitress, no problem. I put my debit card on the tray with the check and the waitress picked it up in short order. She brought it back with the print out to sign and add in a tip. The only issue was that this check had a fee of $2.79 added in. No explanation that I recall ("service fee" may be what it was called). I didn't ask about it. It's only a couple of bucks and didn't want to look cheap. I assume this is some kind of credit card fee. I used a debit card which I understand don't have the same fees that credit cards have. At any rate, it just seems really cheap of a really nice restaurant to do that. It detracted from the whole evening. I know it's tough for restaurants now and has been for a couple of years, but they'd do better to bury the credit/debit card fees in the prices of the food than add it on to the check at the end. I hope someone from Magenta sees this and knows that this kind of thing looks very bad to customers who want to have a nice evening out. I guess the lesson I learned, if I go back, is to pay with cash.
The rating never lies.Just so you know the meat is great but anything else, is not good. You know if you gonna give some vegetables, plz at least give some fresh vegetables, they are not expensive you get it in winco! Service are nice but we don’t get napkin until we asked. Server are nice tho! Place are small just so you know.Overall, drink options are great, meat is great, atmosphere is great.
Came here to meet and dine with some friends, was the first time, the food is just bizarre. Asian meets Italian food? No way to describe it, just didn't work for me. Turmeric crepe with sauteed veggies inside/Asian sauce then had parmesan cheese grated inside, I could barely eat it. Just not my type of cuisine.
I arrived starving and left stuffed to perfection! First time in a long time that I could visit a fancier restaurant and treat myself and it was magnificent. Great conversations with the server me and my friend had, kudos to the cooks. Will come again!
While the service for lunch is good. The server was awesome, knew the menu and was extremely helpful, but by himself so seemed overwhelmed. The food was amazing. The appetizers are the way to go. This quality of food would cost twice as much in Portland, and probably not be as good. My new favorite restaurant in Corvallis.
Drinks were interesting and good. Food was good, but kind of limited menu. We came for drinks and apps for my birthday, left fuller than expected. The escargot stuffed mushrooms were delicious! The mussels arrived cold, so wasnt thrilled there, but didnt want to complain to server, she had a full restaurant and seemed to be hostess and server. Salad rolls were pretty basic but good. I have eaten here several times before pandemic, so I know they normally have good food and drinks, we will be back again regardless of waiting forever and the cold food this time around. It was a busy night in corvallis.
I can't rave enough! I can't. From amazing ingredients to amazing staff I would give anything to have Magenta in my town!!! Definitely order the Starters of BBQ pork over rice. Definitely order the coconut shrimp. Hand breaded, fresh prawns. The Salad rolls of mint and chicken and as light and yummy as I have ever had!But if you leave without a Magenta martini made with prickly pear cactus you will never understand. Tjis place is a major gift!
Excellent food and service. I haven’t had a small plate here I didn’t like. The staff are always extremely friendly and drinks are great. Great little place to get a bite!
Stuck up staff. Terrible service. Place has gone down hill. Do not waste your money.
