Horrible boss/ owner leaves employees alone at night with no ability to contact him in case of emergency. Is unprofessional in ways of termination (a Facebook message), too chicken for in person, with no talking to the employees to see the circumstances, especially with multiple calls and texts for questions being unanswered. Not worth a one star but I can’t give a zero.

I don't know about the company.. but the bread is amazing!

They seem not to care about their employees and new people they are interviewing. The quality of the bread is not worth the price, If you are getting bread that is that expensive then it should be high quality bread. Also want to mention that it's difficult to find this place, It's basically in an ally where it seems like you would get murdered in, I couldn't see the sign from the street it was on. If you want people to find the store then put out a sign that people can see.

Not a local bakery. Owners live out of state. Not family orientated either. Requires its workers to be on-call 24/7, demoted people who aren't available to be available at all hours.... At the same time, Unwilling to compensate employees for requiring them to be on-call. Does not provide benefits to its employees either. Not a community or family friendly business.

Our teen got a generous homemade cheese pizza and we both had the ragu special—-very good. Loved the porter too. We usually avoid Corvallis for dinner due to limited parking. We got lucky this evening.

Staying by the river in Corvallis and walked the town several times. Stopped at Big River just to get a cocktail (good martini) and ended up staying for dinner. The salmon was some of the freshest I have had and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Came back a second time and had appetizers, the crab cakes and clams were also quite good.

Over the years we have eaten often at Big River. Before the new ownership took over, we dined there during the summer, in part to enjoy the outdoors, and in large part because we could escape the inside noise. Sounds ranging from the clanking of dishes to multiple conversations were distracting and amped up our tinnitus. But when we dined after the change of ownership, we found the new owners had made changes that muted those distracting sounds. Today we stopped for lunch and ordered the small pizzas. And "small" they were. And my wife found the pizza crust less than crisp--doughy was her word--and the toppings skimpy. A few cherry tomatoes and a small serving of sliced meat topped the cheese. Our server treated us well and brought our food promptly. In fact, all our servers have been very helpful in the past. Like another diner below, we do miss the bread slices and olive oil that preceded our meals in the past.

Watery drinks. Blah food. In particular stay away from the seafood chowder. It was really terrible. Service was fine.

Just ate at the restaurant for the first time in about 5 years, had eaten there many times since the early 2000's before that. The dinner was good but as I understand it a new owner bought it about a year ago and as a fan of the previous Big River two things are missing. They used to bring out soft French bread and dipping olive oil with your water, not doing that anymore, it was actually the first thing I would think of about Big River it was a signature of the place. The people who used to own the restaurant still own the bakery, seems it would be easy for the new owner to get some of that bread and continue the tradition. A bit of the magic about the place has been lost. Another slightly less magical thing was that new menus used to be printed every day, you could take one home and hang it on your kitchen wall if you asked nicely, not anymore just a dingy old menu to look at.

If you loved Big River in the old days, we’ll those days have passed. Walking in to see the famed dessert case completely empty was disheartening. New owners are destroying what once was so good.
