One of 2 coffee shops in Bend deserving 5 stars. As good or better drip coffee than I’ve had anywhere. I come to Bend 5 to 8 times a year and I always go to Lone Pine at least twice.Any nits I have should not take away from 5 star rating.Coffee is complex with subtle flavors. They change variety of coffee served often (daily or more?), but it is always good. If you want knock your socks off, powerful dark roast coffee, this isn’t the place to go. I can’t comment on espresso drinks.Pastries are good but limited. They sometimes run out of choices late in the morning, but they seem never to run out of waffles.People taking orders are mostly friendly- some extremely nice.Seating is usually adequate, but can be crowded at times. They have some tables outside on shady side of building. Also they open a garage style door in warm weather. Door is mostly glass so there is a good view of outside such as it is even with the door closed. They play a variety of music at a volume that allows for conversation. I know taste in music is subjective, I like most of what they play but sometimes have a little too many plaintive wailing songs.I buy a bag of beans to take home on every trip. Their bags aren’t vacuum sealed, but the coffee has always been fresh enough. I put the beans in a container designed to keep out air when I get home.Ok, had to drop rating to 4 stars. The music has just become too insipidly annoying. For my tastes this place has just been in a slow decline music-wise since moving to its new location.
Hipster central. As far as the coffee goes, you will either believe their homemade alternative milk is great, or makes lattes taste watery. They will fill your personal container, and the open garage door on nice days is appreciated. Healthy indoor plants.
We came back for more shrub drinks.Love the guava and finally this time we could get lychee flavor. So so so good :)
So far, I've never had better coffee than Lone Pine Roasters! You can order from them online too! ? My favorite that they used to have was something like Ethiopia Suta Quota with notes of white peach, bergamot, and lilac, and my new current favorite is Ethiopia Dimtu with notes of lemon curd, guava, and lime leaf.
I met with some colleagues here in the morning. The staff were very friendly. It was busy. I was able to find a seat, but others coming in found it difficult because it was busy. Even though it was busy, the small quaint space doesn't detract. The atmosphere was vibrant with people having conversations and others working on their laptops. It was comfortable and relaxing. There were clouds in the sky and a coolness in the air that was unusual for Bend in April. I decided to have a hot chocolate and avocado toast. Both were excellent and beyond my expectations. If you haven't been here, it is well worth a visit. Try and go a little before or after busy times. It's worth it to just sit and relax.
Love, love, love this place. One of my favorite spots to get work done while enjoying a delicious cup (in an actual coffee cup) of coffee and a Belgian waffle.Get a waffle while you're there - they make them in-house. Ask them to warm it up!
They're roasting their own coffee. We tried the espresso which was fruity. The caramel latte, has the exact amount of sweetness and delicious.Local pastries, and various seating options. All together, great place to hangout.
Great atmosphere and steady business which demonstrates their quality since it’s an off season visit. Drip coffee and latte were both very good. The ocean roll from Sparrow was also good. Our go to place when visiting.
The cappuccino and vanilla bean latte were both well balanced, flavorful, and proportioned. Staff was friendly and the decor / general atmosphere is very well done, and there are a wide variety of seating arrangements that cater to whatever work setup you prefer.
I normally love this coffee shop and visit it frequently, however I had a negative interaction over the weekend. I ordered my drink as usual and then asked to get a small side of whipped cream. The barista asked if the whipped cream was going to be given to my dog, upon which I replied yes, and she denied selling it to me. She explained that the whipped cream is "made by hand, in house and is only intended for drinks." I explained I wanted to pay for it and was still denied. My pup had just been diagnosed with a health condition and I wanted to get him something special.A truly bizarre and disappointing experience and has me strongly reconsidering if I will be back.
