Love this place. Super creative and authentic multi-region food served tapas style, with medium plates. The food is really fresh, with a wide range of influences from Latin America and Spain. Lots of veggie options. Plus, it's a casual unpretentious atmosphere, with a great outdoor space. It a town that has a lot of mediocre restaurants- this one is a stand out, mybe the best.
Barrio in downtown Bend is one of my most favorite restaurants. Great service, creative and delicious homemade with real food dishes, great tacos and many vegan options, even in their paella, which is so good I am always tempted to order yet again! I love their caesar salad and so far all margaritas are totally bomb. I am so sad they are closed but happy their sign says temporary. Cannot wait till they reopen.
Had such a delicious dinner here the other day. We started with a Jalepeño Cilantro Margarita Pitcher and Queso Fundido with Street Corn. For the main we shared Beef Lengua and Chicken Tinga Tacos (3total) and the House Paella. It was so amazing. I do think the chicken in the House Paella was pretty gross. We picked it all out. But the rest of it was perfect. It was super delicious otherwise.
Great food, TERRIBLE service. When you call in, the first thing their phone service says is "If you're here for curbside pickup, press 1."When I arrived to pickup my takeout, I found they had no designated curbside parking for pickup. I parked two blocks down the street and proceeded to call 10 times, pressing 1, only to have no one answer. I had an infant in the car and couldn't easily leave the car.It was clear my only option was to go inside, and when I did I was surprised to find the lobby empty, open seats throughout the front area, and a hostess standing eagerly waiting to help me.When I told her I called 10 times and followed the prompt for curbside pickup and no one answered, her response was "we're really busy". I think what she meant to say was "we're really lazy". There wasn't a phone in sight. I'm guessing she put it away so she didn't have to deal with it.
The hostess was unwelcoming, service slow and the tacos were very bland. We were disappointed because of the reviews we read, the restaurant did not live up to the reviews sadly. Maybe just an off day though.
From the host to our server Heidi and the food runner we had excellent service at Barrio. We brought our dogs and were able to sit on the back patio in a shady but breezy spot, which was perfect since it has been so hot lately! Heidi helped find us a table that fit our needs. I definitely appreciate the dog-friendly patio! The food is absolutely amazing. We got a little of everything - mix and matching two orders of three tacos each, a seafood paella, chips guacamole and salsa, and ceviche. The tacos had amazing flavor and all were delicious. The paella was bomb - perfectly crispy rice, a very healthy serving of seafood, and again amazing flavors. The ceviche is super unique - served in little fried plantain bowls with a coconut milk sauce. So so good. We also all really enjoyed the plating of the chips, salsa, and guacamole. It’s a bowl with a guacamole island in the middle surrounded by a moat of red salsa and green salsa. Great mix and healthy portions. They also have a unique cocktail menu full of tropical Latin twists on typical drinks. We will 100% be back over and over again!
Went during the day so it wasn't too busy. Bartender greeted me and got me seated quickly. Salsa and guacamole were tasty and plated nicely. Staff was very attentive and friendly.
I’m deeply disappointed in myself I waited as long as I did for this food, we all know better. This might be a lunch spot, but NOT a dinner spot. They can’t handle a crowd, the wheels come off. If you like to wait “25 minutes” or really 90 minutes for a table, for some tacos or mediocre paella, this is your place. Maybe the owner has lost interest or picked up a new hobby.
They were the only restaurant after trying so many others that would take us even without a reservation, and the estimated wait time was less then what we were told. Food was yummy: cauliflower appetizer, mixed seafood paella, and lamb & mushroom kebab, both cocktails were super yummy and perfectly nicely strong yet tasty. Churro dessert was ok, we prefer our churros to be doughy rather then airy crispy. The staff was awesome, for be extremely busy, they were still attentive and served our food and everything else in a timely way❣️ Great job❣️
We cannot recommend this place enough! We got the Patatas Bravas, Fried Cauliflower, Barrio Street Corn, Veggie Paella (such a hard find!) and mushroom tacos -- all of which were delicious! Our waitress was very sweet and attentive and we had a great time here for lunch. There were so many veggie options and our family was delighted to have such unique and tasty food. Can't wait to come back one day!
