Excellent — great appetizers, great drink selection, great food.Waitstaff is a little on the slow side, and the kitchen feels like it closes early. They will rush you out if you’re not drinking alcohol with your meal.Menu varies — some stuff is limited availability despite being on the normal menu.
Most of our family who frequent this establishment go for the variety of spirits. Their take on a lemon drop was divine, however vodka drink with fruit juice literally tasted like a Hawaiian Punch. I was underwhelmed with the food for the price they charged. Risotto was not chewy and had too many vegetables mixed into it. The Brussel sprouts were ordered Three different times. Over sauced first time. Raw the second time and then served literally burnt the third. That’s $36 I wasted on a vegetable. Who can’t cook vegetables correctly? When a customer says the food is burnt, you remove it off bill and take it away… not box it up.
I really like this place. It's a little pricier, but everything is elevated a little bit so I feel like it's worth it. Typical gastro pub menu, but everything has a little bit of their own twist that just seems to work really well. The cocktails are well made and they seem like generous pours, The Paper Street House seeming to be the favorite in our group. There was a bit of a long wait to be seated because it's a smallish dining area, but we had a drink from the bar and rented a pool table while we waited. This lack of space may be attributed to their massive walls of whiskey and other liquors and their hallway of beers and wines for sale. Definitely worth coming back to try some different food and cocktails and whiskey flights next time.
I've now been here twice for dinner while visiting family in the area—last November, we went early on a Thursday evening so it wasn't crowded at all and we were able to get seated immediately. Most recently, it was a Friday night so the place was packed and we had to wait quite a while, but we actually got seated sooner than expected. Both times though, the service has been excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. The menu is pretty expansive, with everything from sandwiches and burgers to pasta, steak, and seafood. The wait staff is incredibly knowledgeable about the menu (both food and drink), as well as friendly and efficient. I ordered the clam and chorizo pasta during the first visit, and then tried the keymaster sandwich the second time. If you order fries as a side, there's a hot dipping sauce that comes with them (I think they call it "angry Russian") that's REALLY good. Both times, I've also had enough leftover food to take home and have for lunch the following day, which was great. There are some more menu items I'd like to try so I definitely wouldn't mind going here again next time I'm in the area.
Good bourbon selection, decent draft selection when they aren’t out of many on the sheet, ok bar food, so so if you are coming mostly for dinner
I have been to Westgate a number of times over the last few years. Recently we have been much more frequent. I am not sure if something changed, but their amazing food has somehow gotten even better. Their cheese curds are probably the best I have ever had, and I am no stranger to a good cheese curd. The Caribbean Chicken is probably one of the most flavorful and well cooked chicken dishes I have had the pleasure of tasting in my life. Their cocktails are unique and delicious, and their whiskey selection speaks for itself. The bottle shop is well curated, and worth checking out while waiting for a table. On days when the game room is open, tables in there are open seating. The bar is also open seating. There is typically a wait for tables. Pool tables are $10/hr, and balls can be rented at the bar. While this is listed as a pub with pub food, the food is way higher quality than you'd expect from your typical pub food. The menu is diverse, while not being overwhelming. 12/10, I look forward to many more evenings shooting pool and sipping on something yummy ay Westgate.
The atmosphere is lively and the bottle shop is awesome. The bottle selection is huge and the man helping us was very friendly knowledgeable. However, the food and service on the restaurant side is very subpar. After trying dinner 4 times, the food is overpriced for what is it and the service is not outstanding. Had to flag the server down to order a drink and then said drink was never delivered, overall a little disappointing.
I've been for drinks before, but this was the first time for dinner. It was surprisingly quite good. Portions are huge, but it isn't cheap either. (Not many choices for vegetarians). Drinks were well made. We sat at the bar and all the bartenders were friendly and attentive. Parking is almost always a problem here, but wasn't too bad on a weeknight.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty food. Recommended.
Overall a good experience and I would go back. Drinks were on point, my chicken sandwich was delicious, the cheese curds were crispy and gooey, and dang those Brussel sprouts! A tad pricey but not enough to make me stay away.
