One of the best Thai places in Portland. They have excellent menu catering to all the crowds and different taste palettes. Their starters were amazingly good, the shrimp, edamame, and chicken satay. The main course was Crab fried rice, spicy basil chicken, and Drunken noodles, all of them tasted delicious good. Right proportions, and definitely recommended. Been coming to this place for more than 3 yrs now, and was never disappointed with their food nor the service.
Lupe, An assistant manager at Thai Bloom aggressively mistreated a female patron. The patron asked for fried rice that included only vegetables. When the meal came it included eggs. Lupe aggressively postured his body and began to condescendingly and loudly tell the lady how wrong she was. When she asked him to please leave her alone he said no. When her friend went to talk to another manager he followed that friend, another woman, and began to holler at her. He told her nothing would happen because he’s the assistant manager. The hostesses supported his bad behavior. The assistant manager James was the only civil person working in the restaurant who addressed the patrons. Lupe never apologized. He hollered, postured his body as if he would hurt the women and did it in front of other patrons. This was a hostile and violent encounter instead of being a festive one as the female patrons had intended.
Fast, friendly service for a weekday lunch. Indoor and outdoor seating available. We ordered green curry and cashew chicken - the thing that I liked was the veggies in both dishes were not overcooked and still had some life in them. Flavors were excellent. I thought the spice level was good if just a touch low but we were not asked what spice level we wanted. Perhaps they can accommodate if you ask, but not sure. I'd probably give Thai Bloom 4.5 stars if I could, so a very good place to go.
My sister wanted something special so I took her here. We ordered the crab pad Thai. It was almost all noodles with a few bean sprouts on top. Get this: the “crab”, if it was that, had been breaded in a strange egg batter and a few crumbs of that was sprinkled on top. I could not taste any crab, just a bit of eggy batter. Other dishes may be better, but forget the crab pad Thai. Unfortunately, I can’t forget it. So much for a special lunch. Waitress was nice, that’s why it’s two circles instead of one.
Thai Bloom is the best Thai Restaurant I've ever been to. The service is always great, the food is incredible and I always have a wonderful time. They use lots of beautiful fresh vegetables; no tiny diced, frozen, mushy vegetables here. Presentation contributes so greatly to our enjoyment of a meal and they never drop the ball. The Tom Kha, Fried Rice and Drunken Noodles come in at the top of the list for my favorites. Salad rolls are a must, the yellow curry is delicious, and their Thai tea cooler is a perfect complement to any dish. I just had a coconut curry Noodle dish, Kao Soi, with tofu and vegetables for the first time a couple days ago and it was amazing! Can't go wrong at Thai Bloom; I highly recommend enjoying a meal with them.
Foods are so delicious with various ingredients and tastes. We have tried sweet and sour beef and yellow curry with chicken. Foods for vegetarians were also available.
Food was tasty but now more on the high side of cost. The calamari was a bit hard - not the usual perfect tenderness and crunchy that they used to make.
Went to dinner with my daughter last night. The food and service were excellent. The veggie spring rolls came to the table straight from the fryer, so hot and crisp. The dipping sauce is perfect, neither too sweet or tart. We both had pad Thai. The portion was very generous, and ss with the appetizer it came to the table incredibly hot. Very flavorful, the rice noodles were cooked perfectly, not over or under done. Excellent Thai food.
Food was good. Great atmosphere. Waiter ignored us once we paid for our bill even though we were enjoying coffee and tea and having a conversation. Waiter was super receptive. Would recommend for a casual dinner.
Visited Thai Bloom on another business trip to Portland with a colleague and we over ordered on a delicious dinner. Ordered the fresh spring rolls with an excellent flavorful peanut sauce, pad Thai with prawns, ground chicken with ginger and prawns with green beans. All the different dishes were delicious on their own and they were very generous portions. We both felt guilty for leaving behind at least half of each dish, but it was way too much food for two people. The service was excellent, the waiter checked back with us server times during the meal. Also, the tables were nicely socially distant, which was greatly appreciated, since eating IN restaurants is still a relatively infrequent event for me!
