Out door dining for 4. Perfect setting. A bit pricey.
Service was very slow and they seemed understaffed although it appeared there were sufficient numbers of people working. Maybe a training issue? The food was very good except for the watermelon strawberry gazpacho which had a moldy taste.
The food was delicious and the garden is beautiful.
The dishes were well conceived and many were well executed. However some aspects, such as the Nopal rice on the hanger steak, were not. In addition to entrees, we ordered two plates to share before the meal, and one of us ordered a bowl of soup. The soup came out. Then the entrees came out, at which point I reminded the server we were waiting for plates to share with our drinks before the entrees....Obviously we took the food fresh and ate it, and eventually the shared plates came out (they were tasty, too), but the meal would have worked better socially and in terms of taste if it had come out in the right order and timing.
We have enjoyed Peerless Restaurant for several years â especially for special occasions! Weâve never been disappointed.
We shared 6 different menu items and they were all really delicious!
We dined outside in the lovely garden, which cooled down nicely after a hot day. Our meal if small plates was the first 10 meal since COVID. I would drive back just to have the strawberry watermelon gazpacho or the Thai fruit salad! Off the charts! Finished up with calamari and potatoes and then sorrel ice cream with strawberries. The lead waiter was serving 30 people and managing the dining areas. When we got there I was a bit worried as kitchens get backed up with large orders and then service suffers. The waitstaff, however, did not miss a beat. The garden ambience encouraged slowing down, enjoying a pre dinner cocktail, and a glass of wine, and we will fondly remember our night passing through Ashland.
My daughter was visiting and I took her to Peerless as a surprise. Under the original owners, it was THE BEST -- always 5 Star in every area. Last night was a shock to say the least. We were left standing at the deserted Hostess station for 12 minutes - several staff made eye contact with us but did not greet us or talk to us in any way. We asked the bar person if we could sit at the empty bar and she said no and told us to wait at the Hostess station. Eventually a wait person came up to us - did not greet us or smile. We sat at a table and she asked us if we wanted water and I said, "yes please, bottled flat". The large bottle of water came. My daughter asked me what was going on there as the waitress was NOT friendly or nice. No one we encountered was friendly or welcoming or even had a smile on their face. We sat for a while waiting ....... and then I asked my daughter if she wanted to leave and she said YES!! I took the water to the cashier and said we were leaving and I would pay for the water. $9.00 ??!!! I rated the food here in this review, but we didn't eat so I have no idea what it's like -- all I know is that I will NEVER go back!!!! Soooooooooo disappointing as it used to be such a fabulous restaurant with very gracious servers and staff. :-( And I feel sorry for the owner as his heart and soul is probably invested in this and his staff are the worst in Ashland hospitality......................
Great food, service and atmosphere! Somewhat uncomfortably warm in the dining room but I guess itâs to be expected when temperatures outside surpass 100 degrees!
This place changed ownership, but it is still a very nice place to go. While my steak was not cooked to my preference, it was still very good. The side dishes were excellent, my brother's lamb chops & his wife's chicken breast were divine! The cocktails excel here thanks to the gifted bartenders.
