What a feed-bag surprise! We stopped in Albany on the way to meet some friends for the July 4th Holiday, and picked the Branding Iron randomly. The parking lot was full so we found a spot and got a seat. The menu has things like Meatloaf Sandwich and 24 hour breakfast so we high-fived our good luck. I had the Chili and Cheese omelette, which weighed in at 2 pounds with the hashed browns. The chili is house made and is described as spicy, but isn't. Good is what it is.My better half had the Breakfast Melt, which was a heart warming sandwich with corned beef hash, scrambled egg and Swiss cheese on rye bread. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DISH! 90% of the people we saw left with filled containers. The flavors were spot on and the prices were extremely fair. When in Albany and hungry, stop at Pop's Branding Iron and you won't be hungry for a while.
I’m not sure where all the good reviews are coming from. We have been trying to find a good breakfast place that has a lounge in Albany and it’s been difficult. The chicken fried steak was too salty and the country gravy was like paste with salt. Corned beef hash was okay, but tasted like it came from a can. The Bloody Mary was good, at least it was better than Springwater. Service was good and so was the order to delivery time.
Not one time did the waitress check on me or refill my coffee. Food was nothing to write home about.
I have been coming here for many years. And haven't been here for several years. And I know why now. Food was terrible, hashbrowns were cooked to death hard as Chinese hard noodles, ham in omelet was chopped so small was like eating soft gravel, waitresses was just as bad older women blondish hair. Was more involved with socializing that waiting on customers. Had to ask for everything from silver ware to salt and pepper. I guess all good things must come to an end, I won't be spending any more of my money here. Sad reality is this use to be a great place to eat.......not no more.
The last 3 times I have gone here has just been a hard experience to swallow, Pops used to be a great local experience and used to hold themselves to higher standard now service is rude if you get any at all food is in a bad state upon serving and toast may not be a big deal but it is supposed to be there if you pay, if pops is still a part of the public and is a reflection of such we are in for a lot of trouble, save some money buy eggs and watch a youtube video for delicious breakfast it'll always be better than this garbage.. good luck too all and farewell pops

Years ago when I lived in Albany, this was a regular hangout of mine. During my visit home we stopped in to have a quick bite and to my surprise, it was the same as I remember. The food is still really good, prices are still reasonable and service is still quick.
Loved the house salad, service from Carleen was excellent. Club sandwich was huge and onion rings were tasty. My teryaki chicken was a little on the small side, but the mashed potatoes and gravy was really good.
Love this place! Great food, clean and sanitize atmosphere, friendly waiters. A little on the spendy side but worth every bite!
Best breakfast in town. Been going here for years and the food is always great. Love.our waitress Diane J. She truly makes you feel welcome and is a great waitress.
