We generally enjoy going to Frankie's, but today's visit was less than wonderful.Hubs and I shared the hummus plate - it's not your traditional Middle Eastern hummus, but was served with cucumbers, tomatoes, pickled red onions and feta. Easily enough for two as an appetizer.Hubs had linguini with clams. Plenty of clams and he said it was quite good.I had the fish and chips. Easily the WORST fried fish I've ever had. Batter was thick and tasted like overcooked pancake batter - dark, oddly sweet and very greasy. After I pulled off the coating, there was very little fish left. I mentioned this to our server who took the pieces of coating back to the kitchen to show the chef. I heard nothing more about it and I was charged the full price for the meal - a discount would have been appreciated, especially at an upper scale restaurant like this. PLUS - WARNING- they charge 50 cents for a tiny side of ranch dressing that was suggested by the server. This seems downright cheap for a restaurant charging these prices. BTW - their French fries are WONDERFUL!This is decidedly a low key casual restaurant with a chef driven menu. We will continue to go back. When they're good, they're great. When they miss, they miss by a mile.
Been here before in the past, but we heard there was new talent in the kitchen and changes being made. Wife and I decided to stop by for dinner on Easter and we left very satisfied. Pork belly frites as appetizer and the pulled pork sandwich special was absolutely fantastic!! We are also excited for the rain to stop so we can sit outside on their large patio! We will back! We usually love the food at Frankies. I tried a $40 Ribeye tonight and it was 75% fat and the rest very grissel. They did apologize and offer a free dessert which I was not interested. They did not offer a refund. Sorry, We won't be returning.
We ate on the patio before the pandemic. I was absolutely impressed by the service and food (I ordered a veggie type salad). Yum!
Love their food, drinks, and atmosphere, but most of all, the fantastic people.

They have struggled In the past with Staffing through the covid-19 but seem to have most of the issues solved. My wife and I stopped for a quick bite one afternoon and I got the beef stroganoff soup. Boy, what a fantastic broth with great big chunks of beef. That had to be the best cup of soup I have had in years. My wife had the humus played as usual and it never disappoints. Glad to see this place has made it through the covid-19 era, it is truly a gem of Albany
Everything I have ever gotten here has been fabulous. They have great vegetarian options and portions are very generous. Food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. Very highly recommend giving Frankie’s a try!
Wonderful lunch! Such nice options, staff are great, and food was amazing.
The food and staff here are both PHENOMENAL! I ordered the plant bowl(Vegan) and my daughter got the beyond burger. I will be going back monthly for our family night out!
