Coming through on our way back home to Southern Missouri. Wanted to try Florence's or Mama E's but both closed. Googled for best soul food near me and this option came up. Was not disappointed! Buttery cabbage was delicious! Better than my Mom's, sorry Mama! My mom was a great cook. My husband had the black eyed peas with his meal and they were also delicious. Most restaurants focus on the main courses but real tasty side dishes are a bonus. Couldn't decide between shrimp and cheesy grits or the fried chicken. The girl at the register said the fried chicken was the best so got that. ? just like my Mom's, so so good. They mistakenly gave me a thigh instead of breast but brought me one so then I had even more to enjoy. Great place. The cloth napkins and silverware is a nice touch.
What a nice experience I had at The Kitchen. I ordered the catfish dinner. I must say, it was off the scale. 1st its real catfish not swai. The fillet was a nice size, seasoned & cooked to perfection.The cabbage was crisp & not cooked to death. The yams will melt in your mouth. The atmosphere was clean & pleasant.They have daily specials & happy hour specials.Prices are reasonable as well. I will definitely visit again.
First time eating here today and i must say everything was AMAZING!!!! I ordered the catfish with greens,yams,mac n cheese, cabbage and pound cake. The yams were some of the best yams I’ve ever had!!! The cake was die for!!!! I will definitely be back here at least 3 times this week!!! I’ve been sick and hospitalized this week and just from eating this delicious food i feel 10000000% better!!!
This restaurant is awesome. Not only is the place clean and professional, the food is superb. I was so hungry I started eating before I could get some pics. I ordered 3 wings, greens, yams and peach cobbler. Oh and a delicious Blueberry Lemonade. The portions were right on time. The owner was very nice and I could see her strong leadership among staff while she worked beside them, literally. The music was also soothing and the decor was well put together. I will definitely be back with my family and friends. Oh and the rolls were homemade made also. All the food I had was homemade made. Must try........ You will not regret it.
Went on a Sunday. Place wasn't packed. Ordered fried pork chop, Mac and cheese, jalapeño cornbread, salad.Pork chop was thick and not very tender. Had to struggle cut with butter knife. Mac and cheese didn't taste homemade. Was gritty and tasted artificial. Cornbread was good. Salad was good. The dressing for the salad was on point!!!I guess the lady barking orders at the workers is the owner. She should have jumped in the kitchen to help instead of loudly barking orders at those people. But that's none of my business. I probably won't go back tho.
Great food that's always fresh, with excellent customer service. The burgers are great, the fried wing basket is great also... Butmy favorite is the catfish with macaroni as a side. This is southern food done right!!
Fresh off the grill cooking. Prices were reasonable for a home cooked meal. Steak was well seasoned and vegtables were fresh. I had not eaten a twice baked potatoe in a while and it was so worth it...skin and all...The shrimp was cooked with white wine and was so plumpaliciously fresh. I liked seeing my food being cooked with flames in the back. Place was clean, prices were reasonable and food was excelent! Great place to try! And they have drive thru you order at the window.
Tried The Kitchen for the first time and it was delicious. I ordered fried chicken, the greens was real and not from a can, yams and mac and cheese.Thank you for having real soul food. If you a lover of butter pecan cake you will be extremely satisfied.
Oh my word!!! This place has some tasty soul food!!! Wonderful staff! Nice and clean restaurant! Will definitely be coming back. Try the house dressing....it is a MUST!
