Decided to check it out as I was in the area doing some shipping while I am on a med traveler assignment in OKC. Food was great as well as the service. I came in a few mins after opening on a Monday so there were not many people there. I sat at the sushi bar area and the cook was awesome and making recommendations. The amber jack was one and it was really good. Really enjoyed it and will have to make time for a 2nd visit.
Tried this place on a whim. I didn't want to look through a bunch of sushi rolls so I went with the chicken teriyaki. I thought that that would be simple. The chicken teriyaki plate comes with soup, salad, rice and of course the chicken teriyaki. (I got this to go)While the soup, salad, and rice were nothing special; the chicken teriyaki was inedible. It was a styrofoam container full of mostly bean sprouts and mushrooms with chunks of chicken added in slathered with soy sauce. I don't think that I could taste any teriyaki in the entire dish. I don't think that I would really care about the presentation if the chicken teriyaki tasted as it likely should have. But it was just salty mushroom, bean sprout, and chicken.Going by the reviews for the sashimi I don't think I'll be trying this place again, especially if they can't do something as simple as chicken teriyaki.Two stars because the wait staff was pleasant.
Wife and I went here for lunch, I ordered four pieces of Tuna nagiri. Each piece of fish had numerous caudal tendons and the size was 3"x3". Living in Japan I know this is not the correct way to cut the fish or quality of fish. You want authentic sushi and nagiri then avoid this place. Couldn't finish my plate. My wife's nigiri was the same way. We walked out extremely disappointed.
This was a ripoff, l ordered two of the rock and roll and couldn’t finish it. There is no pride in this place for making sushi. Keep on searching and find a real sushi house. Sorry, just the truth SAKANA.
Food was horrible. Sushi pieces were cut way to large and had a very fishy taste to them. Service was OK.Definitely was our first and only trip to this place.
It is rare that I leave Review for any restaurant but in this case it's worth sharing. This review is only in regards for the Nigiri as that is all I will ever eat here. I have been eating sushi since I was a young boy and it's always been my favorite food but after my latest few experiences at Sakana all sushi will judged differently. The first time I went I tried the tuna, white tuna and salmon. Usually white tuna is my favorite fish but alas Sakana sushis salmon blew me away. It was like I was eating salmon for the very first time, it literally made me shudder.The second time I went I had the salmon (couldn't resist), the white tuna and yellowtail. I normally don't much like yellowtail but I figured if the salmon made new question my existence why not? It was INCREDIBLE! This latest time I went I got adventurous and tried thE flounder because I've never had it. It was unbelievable! My go to lunch special will now always be the salmon, flounder and yellowtail.It's obvious that this sushi chef really knows what he's doing.
Sushi and service was great. We ordered the titanic dinner plate and everything tasted amazing and the fresh fish tasted just perfect.
Why are there so many comments about roaches and no reply from the owner about this issue??? I almost ate here but sis not go in because of no response from owner about roaches.
service was good, atmosphere was nice, but the food that was delivered to our table had a cockroach between 2 pieces of a sushi roll!!! Got up and left ???
Absolutely terrible service. We went for a birthday lunch at 1:30 with a group of 13 (yes bigger group longer service) which I did call ahead of time so they had a heads up, but that doesn’t excuse half of us not getting our drinks, we didn’t receive our appetizers, after almost 2hrs of sitting there some of us received our meals that were room temp and 3 of our group didn’t receive their meals at all. Also while we were waiting 3 tables walked in got their food and was out and tables cleaned. Their excuse was their computers were down, but that doesn’t justify the people showing up after us getting in and out no problem with all their items.
