I wanted to like this place. First off the cornbread is the best I've ever eaten. The sides were very good. My problem was that my $16 dinner had a third of a piece of thigh and the breast bone of the chicken with very little meat on that bone. The dinner was advertised with 2 pieces of chicken and I barely got enough for 1 whole piece. Pretty disappointing. The service was good and we had a very nice waiter. When asked about the small pieces of chicken he replied that their provider cut up the chicken before they made it to the restaurant. I don't know. First time I experienced this.
We arrived at 2:00 pm. Unfortunately they were out of alot of things on the menu including desserts. Our waitress explained to us that during their lunch they sell out of alot of their entrees and sides. The smothered chicken, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, macaroni and cheese, collard greens and corn muffins, was very good. We will go again but I want to get there at the beginning of lunch for sure. Service was very good.
Had to wait an hour only to have to take our food to go. When I looked at it I only recieved 4 rib tips and and 2 neck bones the sides were small and ended up paying $47 dollars not only was I out on time from work the food had no flavor and was bland. Again small portion sides. The sweet tea is not your traditional tea either. All around bad experience.
Food was delicious. Florence came out and said hi to us while we were dining. She was actually in the kitchen cooking last night. It was our first visit and we will certainly return.
Best food on town, an experience you must have❤️
Monday at 11:00 am we arrived we were seated quickly and placed our order. We waited for over 2 1/2 hours for our food to arrive!!! When we asked about our order the waitress argued with us, NO APPOLOGY!!! When the food finally arrived, it was cold and no mashed potatoes or bread. I will never eat there again!!!
I have been going here for years, never had a problem until today. First off we sat outside due to the fact the dining area was smoky, the waitress came outside ask us what we wanted to drink but mentioned there was no kool aid, tea, or liquor menu. We ordered our food and it took 30minutes to bring it out which is no problem.Apparently the cook didn't arrive til after we got our plates, our waitress said he only worked there for 4 days and he's the only employee at the moment not to mention when he bought our food out everything was cold and super sweet like sugar was added to everything. Whatever is going on needs to be fixed this is beyond poor work ethic and I wouldn't be surprised if they started losing customers. The mac and cheese was watery smh super disappointed today.
Went here for the first time a few days ago. Excellent customer service and food was delicious.
I contemplated on giving this review as I love to patronizing Black owned businesses but this restaurant really needs to up their game! Went here based on the “positive reviews” and was sorely disappointed! Only one person at the front of the house and it took forever to get menus, drinks and food! I felt bad for the server as she was the only one available and the restaurant got busy pretty quickly! Now to the food, I ordered the fried chicken, greens, mac n cheese and the yams! When I saw my plate I was looking around like was this plate meant for a toddler?? The three pieces of chicken was so small it would’ve been perfect for 4-5 year old! The mac n cheese was super creamy and wanting me to order more. The greens had sugar in them (yuck!) and the yams were just too darn sweet! My husband got the smothered chicken minus the gravy….we kept looking and saying where the gravy at! The kool aid was okay but they only had one flavor! Most items on the menu weren’t available either! Super disappointed with entire experience! Gave the server a tip cause it wasn’t her fault she was being pulled in a million and one places in a short time period!! It’s really a shame cause I wanted to love this place but the reading the negative reviews resonated with the food and service received today!
OMG… I can’t believe I am just now trying Florences Soul food restaurant. I caught an episode of Diners and Drive-in. My soul and stomach was blessed by the yam fried chicken and cabbage. Lord bless the hands that made it. We were greeted by a sweet soul named Candice who provided the best dining experience! Can’t wait to try the Honey meatloaf next.
