Loved the carnitas, flakey tortilla chips, margarita. Fresh. Friendly. Huge menu. Lots of locals. Very casual. Our first visit; Will be back to try many more things. A great find!
Was really looking forward to a great Mexican meal and had heard Volcano’s was real good. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Three quarters of the meal was not really any good. Refried beans were cold. Rice doesn’t seem to be Mexican rice. Can’t determine what exactly it is but it was horrible. Food tasted as if it was out of a can. Needless to say we won’t be back.
Everything I’ve tried here has been great, especially the tostadas. I wish the salsa was a little chunkier/thicker, but that’s just my taste. If you want some quality Americanized-Mexican food, this should be your go-to.
1st time I ate here when they first open was good authentic, 2nd time I got food poison, look them up with health dept. After 2 years, I thought I try again. Ordered over the phone, said no sauce, put it on the side, was covered in sauce, made burrito soggy, meat was dry and bland, 3 sauces on top red, cheese and a green paste. Save your $ for a better Mexican Restaurant. Mamaveca's hands down the best!
It was very yummy food. The tacos were great, though not necessarily the best in town. The chorizo and carnitas were dazzling, the azada was just OK. The guacamole really earned them the 5 stars... so good. Their chips were very good, made there I believe, as were the tortillas. The green spicy salsa was also very good, serrano-based, I think. We'll definitely be back. The restaurant has a fun personality and the service was very friendly.
The chips were fresh and delicious. We loved the chorizo! The sauces were pretty good, the queso was kind of meh. Service was great. My taco salad was pretty good though I wish the lettuce wasn't ice berg. That's on me, I should have asked. We'd definitely congee back for anther adventure.
This is hands down the best authentic Mexican food I’ve had in a long time if not ever. The staff is so nice and I’ve always had very quick service! The price point is very affordable for the amount of food and the quality is excellent. We recommend Volcano’s to everyone!
this place looks like a dive. BUT LOOKS CAN BE DECEEVING ! Was taken there for lunch and at first was not really excited about it. I am a Mexican soup lover and they had several on the menu. I got the pozole. IT WAS THE BEST POZOLE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!! Prices are very good as well. Not a fancy place. But the soup and other food my friends had was excellent. Not really tex mex but not totally authentic either. Kind of in between.
This place has very good food. It looks a little dumpy but don't let that fool you. I had the taco plate and my son had the chili rellenos plate...both were great. They have a huge variety of food and drink options. One of the things we really liked here was the thick and authentic complimentary chips with hot salsas. In fact, I'd say that a lot of this place is very authentic. Really nice family runs the place. We'll definitely come back.
Listen. Even the french fries are better than the burger joints nearby. I usually get a combination of the chicken, beef and pastor tacos (WOW) but I’ve also had the chimichanga, quesadilla and tamales—all amazing. There are chain restaurants that charge twice as much for queso/guacamole not even half as good as Volcano’s. I’m so glad there’s finally a restaurant like this in the area.I’m editing this review because I moved out of Norman exactly a year ago. I drove here from Del City because very few places in Oklahoma sell pambazos, and I was so happy to come back to Volcano’s, it still holds up. Of all the Mexican restaurants in town, this one has to have the best AUTHENTIC food I’ve ever had. I think the hardest part of moving was not being 5 minutes away anymore. Seriously do yourself a favor and try something new. Whatever it is they’ll make it delicious.
