I was rather disappointed in this little BBQ joint. I certainly had high hopes after reading the reviews..As it has occurred to me some folks have no clue what good BBQ is. The ribs were small in size and big on fat. It said half slab order was closer to 1/4 slab. Sides were sub par. Mac and cheese was old and cold. Fries were from the same neighborhood. The wait staff was nice and the restaurant was clean. The price was way out of line for the food served. Maybe it was just a bad day but I don't see any chance of a revisit .
I have been twice, most recently last night. Our family of 5 tried different things on the menu and they did not disappoint. We had the onion rings, The TMP, pulled pork and guacamole melt, chicken wraps and the 2 meat combo. Most certainly, not to be a Karen, but if we could change our the straws… that would be the only thing I would change. Highly recommend this place and will be returning.
I ordered the small order of "When pigs Fry". Pulled pork over Fries. I added cheese and bacon. Also had a 405 Nite Lite draft. This might be my new favorite favorite place in Norman, OK. Everything was excellent!
Great little BBQ spot / bar. We had one of the best servers Ive ever had (Mary), super attentive and engaging. The food was quite good. Started off with brisket queso. I got the pulled pork mac & cheese (spicy version).....but also customized it with a small amout of chopped brisket ....*drool*. My buddy got some pulled pork cheese fries that everyone at the table loved. Everything was awesome.....really solid grub. Good selection of beer on tap as well. Will definitely go back!
Best Cuban sandwich I've ever had! highly recommend this joint!
This used to be one of my favorite food truck in town, but after the order I just picked up I cant recommend this place anymore. The food was just bland. I could have made better BBQ at home with a can of beans and a pork shoulder. I will give them another shot, but jeez I hope this is not their new normal.
i made a reservation for my 21st birthday 2 weeks in advance for a party of 9. my party came in was not asked if we reserved or anything just “ how many” and “ go find a table” ourselves. then we didn’t get a single drink or menus for 20 minutes. after 45 minutes of sitting there with no order taken or server coming by. they were not busy when we walked in, preceded to get busy after we came in for our reservation. the tables after us had food and drink already when we decided toleave. $25 for 1 drink and soft drinks. i just turned 21 and it was 8 pm i wasn’t even drinking yet. worst service ever. i will never recommend or return. maybe if someone makes a reservation y’all should keep it?? one star cause cant 0.
Don’t sleep on this place people. This was literally the best BBQ I’ve ever had. I got the Brisket sandwich, which comes unsauced, the baked potato salad, and baked beans. Today is Norman Music Festival, so the place is a little busy, but we never felt it. Our server was Jake and he stopped by a few times, helped out with the whole “first time here don’t know what to get thing,” and was otherwise just kind of around if we needed anything. The Brisket sandwich has about 1/3 pound of meat, but it was plenty. The meat was tender without being dry or fatty. The sauces are sweet, house, and spicy. I didn’t try the spicy, but my sister said it was good. The house sauce is very complex and is the best I’ve personally ever had. I did add a little sweet to some of the meat and that was almost as good, but that house sauce, seriously. The baked potato salad is mayonnaise based, which is usually an automatic no from me, but I ate the whole thing and some off of my sister’s plate. The baked beans were stand out as well. With the shortened menu today, those are the only items I can speak to, but I am looking forward to coming back to try everything else.
My wife and I stopped here by chance after a concert. It was after 9 on a weeknight, but the kitchen was still open and the scent of wood-smoked meat filled the air. I ordered the pork and my wife ordered the brisket. Both were exceptionally moist, tender and delicious. The gouda mac and cheese was awesome and the baked potato salad was a big improvement over typical potsto salad. The presentation was classy-the food is served on aluminum trays with wax paper instead of the styrofoam plates most bbq places use. They have a full bar, trivia night, and the music was at a good volume so we could actually talk and relax. I definitely recommend.
The Meating Place's Q Bar upstairs is the PERFECT spot to host a party! I just through a wedding shower there and the Meating Place went above and beyond to help make our event perfect. From the delicious food they catered to the flexible options with an open bar, they exceeded our expectations. They regularly checked in with me as the evening went on to make sure we had all we needed, they even pulled food from their kitchen when we underestimated our catering order. We gave them a budget on our open bar tab and they were sure to keep us in the loop as we approached our limit. They helped make this event a breeze and everyone was super impressed! 10/10 would recommend throwing an event here and definitely plan to use them again in the future!
