Fried shrimp was big but overcooked and didn't even taste like shrimp. The fried chicken was dry and tasteless. Hush puppies were weird, bland. Salad was iceberg lettuce and even the onions were bland, the cucumbers and tomato slices were okay. I don't even understand what the macaroni and cheese was about. It was watery and didn't have much cheese flavor at all. I was hoping for it to be at least decent. Kraft Mac n cheese would"ve been better if they could cook it right and that isn't saying much. I think they would mess it up and make it soupy too, honestly. I ate the shrimp and some grilled chicken with onions (which was good, I wish there had been more) that was for the salad and the tomato and cucumber in the salad because I was hungry...the rest I just couldn't eat. Honestly one of the worst meals I have ever eaten from a restaurant. The one star is for the grilled chicken and the cucumber slices.

Love their chicken strips and fried fish. The staff are friendly. Quick service and warm atmosphere

Cannot go wrong when you eat at Sam’s. Me, my husband & our daughter enjoyed everything we ordered. I got fish, shrimp, hush puppies & 2 sides which I always order my sides to be hush puppies, they are the best. When you walk in we are always treated with great care & respect. Never have to worry because their bathrooms are always clean! This is the place to go for Fish & Shrimp and all kinds of Sea Food!!

When I first heard about Sam’s Southern Eatery, the first thing I did was look up the reviews. Most customers rated it five stars on two major sites. Since I am still looking for a decent place to eat in Norman, I decided to give Sam’s a try. It’s mostly a seafood place, with a few meat dishes thrown in. Otherwise, they serve fried and grilled catfish, tilapia, shrimp, oysters, gumbo, and po’boys, plus all the sides one would expect in a seafood restaurant--fried okra, fried mushrooms, fried green tomatoes, red beans, rice, coleslaw, and a couple of different fried cheese appetizers. First impressions: clean place, interesting decor. It was early afternoon, so it was past the lunch hour and it wasn’t crowded. Service was top-notch, a terrific waitress who was attentive and friendly. No problems at all with anybody in front or behind the counter. They could not have been nicer. Now, for the food. I ordered the 3 fish, 3 oyster basket with coleslaw and green beans. I’d read so much about the huge helpings, I figured I could take what I didn’t eat home. Well, no. The food was hot (except for the coleslaw) but there was not an enormous amount of anything, and for the price I expected more than I got. You can order your seafood fried or grilled. You pay $1.00 if they grill it, so I ordered fried. I should have paid the extra dollar. The heavy breading on both the fish and oysters was hard and an ugly shade of brown—a sure sign these came out of a freezer. The fish was served with a plop of what tasted like Miracle Whip on the side. I was really looking forward to the oysters. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. They came with some weird pink tartar sauce—no tang, no texture—like nothing I’ve ever encountered. I’ve eaten fried oysters on both coasts. If anybody actually believes this is how fresh fried oysters and tartar sauce should taste, they need to do some traveling to a real seafood restaurant by the sea, not in land-locked Oklahoma. (Yes, I should have known better.) And the two hushpuppies that came with the meal—well, there’s a reason why they’re called hushpuppies, but I doubt even a dog would eat these. The food was barely edible. That’s the best I can say about it. It was not good. My waitress deserved the generous tip I left for her, and the staff is obviously doing everything possible to make this place attractive, but I won’t be going back.

The food was so fantastic! I have never had tilapia so delicious and juicy. The catfish was outstanding and the red beans and rice were shockingly delicious. Huge shrimp and drinks were a plus, and the sauces were really complementary to the food. The service was really great, we had a super nice server who took the effort to make our lunch dining experience wonderful. For amazing seafood in Oklahoma this place is a must! It also has a really cool atmosphere and I loved the aesthetic!

Excellent Cajun eats. Served hot with your choice of trimmings. Not real cheap, but at a good, expected cost. You can eat cheaper here. I prefer their fried oysters w/ red beans and rice/fry's. Yummy! Enjoy.

My wife and I decided to try Sam's for our birthday... this place blew me away and exceeded my expectations. First of all, the decor is unique and, well... FUN. You'll want to walk around. The prices are beyond reasonable-- about 12 dollars a dinner. We had grilled catfish and grilled shrimp--wow. They certainly live up to their Cajun roots. Even the sides are great! My wife said she could make a meal out of the red beans and rice! Pleasant, prompt service, and absolutley no complaints... we'll be back!

Don't use this location. I have been eating Sam's forever.. but back home in Louisiana.. where it began in 2008 in Louisiana.. this location not only has pretty unfriendly staff but to get the order right or just to get sauces is pulling teeth... pretty sad.. the location in Noble is much friendlier and I have not had issues ever...

Really good grilled shrimp and fried catfish. They give you a good sized portion for the price. The decor is fun and interesting. Our waitress was very nice and helpful.

The food was good, but our server must have been new. She didnt know the answer to the appetizer question. Okay cool, but when she took my order, after I told her my sides, she cuts me off to tell me about the food she just ordered, then wants me to repeat what I said, because she didnt take the time to listen. Food was good, just not big on the dine in experience.
