Today was my first time eating here. I ordered the nutty professor latte with oatmilk, biscuits and gravy, and Belgian waffles. The staff was extremely friendly; food was presented nicely and tasted okay. However, the latte tasted very off (eerily like the smell of a cigarette), and I think I got some food poisoning. Got queasy on the drive back home and threw up twice today. This is the only food/drink that I’ve had today, and I’m not feeling great. I’m not sure if I want to come back.
Until today this was one of my favorite places to eat in Norman. Sadly that is no longer the case. I stepped into the establishment this morning and quietly waited to be seated. None of the staff, and I understand they were busy, acknowledged me. I stood there for more than 5 minutes before I asked should I seat myself. Both waitresses near the front said no they would seat me. The blond was somewhat rude but I tried to ignore that. They finally asked how many and I said one. They offered the bar seating and I explained because of my knee problem I could not sit at a raised seat. The blond then informed me that that was the only seating available for a party of one. This was despite the fact that there was a table with just one person sitting at it already. Also there was an empty table. When I pointed this out she said the only place I could sit was at the bar. I said thanks but no thanks and did inform them I was leaving a bad review. I will also throw in that I am African American and wonder how much that played a role in my encounter. I definitely won't be back.
Was looking for a coffee place to grab something quick... but I ended up sitting down after being suggested to by the girl at the bar. Some kind of miscommunication left me sitting there for 5 minutes before I had to ask one of the girls if I could get an order in. She apologized and thought someone else would be helping me. Once that was address she was on it! And service was good moving forward but it was a rough start.I got a white mocha, but tbh, I really didn't like whatever it was, but it didnt taste like what i normally get from coffee shops. The food was good. I ordered a croissant sandwich and that was GREAT!Overall the place has alot of potential and the atmosphere and decor are really cool. I may give them another shot, but for trying to get a quick drink on the go, this place isn't ideal for me.
I have enjoyed Press & Plow for a take-out brunch a couple of times now and have been quite happy. The fresh berries are just as advertised and very tasty. I asked for a recommendation for a non-coffee drink and the barista recommended their Apple Fog, which was delicious. They can be very busy, but my online orders have been done on time both times.
Generally this place has been good. Yesterday I went for a morning meal and got good service considering how crowded it was.However....today, I went in for their 'power hour' (daily, 2-3pm, 1/2 cocktails, as prominently advertised on all their tables). When I walked into the store a little after 2, the person at the register informed my party that they wanted to let us know that they close at 3 pm. When I said that we just wanted to have a drink for the power hour, she said that this isn't valid on Sundays. She motioned to a few seats by the bar that were available, and said we could sit there if we wanted to, but they would be cleaning up the place so people would be sweeping around us and also reiterated they'd be closing shortly. We decided to leave and she apologized on the way out. However, this was clearly a coded refusal of service and I will not be returning.
Very unaccommodating to special needs. I have celiac disease and asked for a hamburger lettuce wrap since I could not have a bun. I was offered the option to order a side salad, but they would not put lettuce/spinach on my hamburger unless I paid for a salad. My young granddaughter ordered a plain waffle with cream and fruit on the side. The waffle came with some kind of flavored butter all over it and pecans. We said something to the waitress who told us we could spend another 11$ to order a plain pancake but that the menu clearly said the waffles come with pecans so our only option was to pay for another entree. My granddaughter ate one bite of it and would not eat anymore. Will not be back.
Whether is be for a casual lunch, a weekend brunch, or just mixing up your study environment, Press & Plow is a WONDERFUL choice. I’ve had multiple of their entrees and pastries, and they have all exceeded expectations. Their staff is always sweet and accommodating. If you are even the slightest bit of a tea person, I recommend their blueberry white tea. Add a touch of almond milk and a little bit of agave, and it tastes exactly like a blueberry muffin!
I've tried 4-5 things on the menu here, and they've all been outstanding. The service has always been exemplary, and the owners style and sense of decor makes for a very pleasant environment to have a brunch in. Get there before 9:00 on the weekends though, or you'll be waiting for a table.
One of the best burgers in Norman, if not *the* best! Tasty house made chips. Don’t miss their brunch or muffins, either.
Excellent coffee, a surprisingly great breakfast menu, nice decor, and great service. Will definitely stop here again sometime!
