People are very friendly and welcoming

My kids and I have been coming here on Thursdays for years and they order the same thing every time. We were ready to order our meals when our server first approached us and I ordered my kids their usual kids meals. One was a crispy beef taco with double rice & the other was a soft beef taco with double rice. My husband ordered 2 beef tacos with double rice and I ordered my meal. I found a hair in my salsa so I set it aside then asked my server to take it. Then 20 mins later my food comes out correctly but that was it. The other 2 meals had beans and we didn't even get the other kids' order. When I told the person that brought the food out that we ordered double rice he argued that the ticket didn't say that. I replied that I told the server this and he asked who waited on us. He then proceeded to walk over to him IN FRONT of us and ask if we ordered the meals with double rice. He acted like he didn't believe me when I told him. Over 5 minutes later a different person bought out the kids crispy beef taco and adult taco meal but not the kids meal with a soft beef taco. I understand that food may not always come out the way it was ordered but we have never been treated so disrespectfully before. The whole experience was so disappointing to the point that we will never return. We got there at 7pm tonight and maybe the staff just didn't care about their customers 30 mins before closing time because it sure felt that way. I just thought I should share my experience with others so they know that this place has really gone downhill. This is unfortunate because my kids used to love coming here.

I’m leaving 3 stars because this is one of my favorite Tex-Mex places in Norman, however, tonight’s service definitely deserves less stars. Server took forever to get things out and we had to ask for almost everything multiple times. I never did get the drink I ordered even after asking if it was coming. We were out of chips for the guacamole we ordered and our main meal arrived and we still didn’t have any chips (we even asked the food runner!). Once we did get the chips for our guacamole from our server everything went smoothly & tasted great! Very disappointed because I love this restaurant & I don’t feel like these things qualify as high maintenance requests. I hope next time is better!

Their fajitas are the best in Norman. They have really hot salsa if you ask for it and the service is great. It's worth it to battle the mall just for lunch here. You'll have the best time here.

Ordered pick up a couple of nights ago and am still thinking about it which is why I am leaving a review. Although the food was great I was so beyond disappointed with the service. I called and spoke with Dylan whom from my understanding is the new manager. This is unfortunate. When I called he sounded frustrated to even answer and informed me he would be placing me on hold due to the fact he wasn’t near a computer and could not take my order right then. This is fine. However while on hold the line had a harsh static beeping noise in lieu of hold music or even silence which was frustrating. After over five minutes had passed on hold I disconnected the call assuming I had been forgotten about and called again. Thankfully on the second attempt at calling a sweet young lady who’s name I didn’t happen to catch answered and helped me immediately.I understand that restaurants are busy but the attitude and then being forgotten about by Dylan was completely different than the experience I had with the previous manager Logan who always was above and beyond in kindness. I hope Dylan is able to find his stride in his new role as manager however I am currently not optimistic.

The food was delicious and the price was great as well as the service

We had not been to El Chico in years. We decided to stop in last Friday while we were at the mall, and we're glad we did. Our waiter was friendly. The service was excellent and fast. The food was just as delicious as we remembered. Thanks for the wonderful trip down memory lane. We hope to return soon.

We stopped in here while Christmas shopping for late lunch/dinner. The service was great and the food came out hot and tasty. They always made sure we had chips and salsa, and that our drinks were full. On top of all of this, their prices are pretty good. I split a Tex Mex for 2 for $19.99, which comes with an appetizer, 2 entrees, and desert. It was all great.

Issela was the best waitress!! The taco salads were out of this world great, drinks were on point 10/10 recommended

As always great food and service from this El Chico’s.Have a certain area/booth that we like to sit at. Hostess always accommodating on our request. As soon as you sit down they are there with chips queso and salsa for your table.Once order is placed then a few minutes later your food arrives hot and fresh.Always a great experience
