Mediocre food and service. The place is an unorganized mess. We’ve tried Toast before they moved locations and were not impressed but decided to give it a second chance since they moved locations and had new staff. When we entered, the hostess told us it would be a 20 minute wait for our party of two. No problem, but it was hard hearing her when she called out names for tables that were ready. This system is so outdated especially when many restaurants will take your phone number and text you when the table is ready. Once we were seated, the waitress asked if we would like a mimosa or Bloody Mary. We opted for two large mimosas and she left. Later a different waitress came over and told us it would be cheaper to do the “Mimosa Party” so we agreed to it. They brought out the Mimosa Party which is just a flight of different juices to make your mimosa. Presentation was very bulky and awkward. Many places will just give you a simple tray of the different flavors. The waitresses didn’t even take the time to explain the different flavors of juices. My wine glass was filled with dust so I had to ask the waitress for a clean one. Food came out and it was mediocre at best. By the end of it, we saw our bill and the mimosa party was $25. Not sure how that would’ve been cheaper than just ordering two mimosas. It really isn’t a big deal considering my husband and I spend quite a bit on brunch every weekend. But for the same price, you’ll get better service, food and atmosphere at Neighborhood Jam or Bramble.
Went on a Sunday where mimosas must have been endless. Group near us was loud, obnoxious and seemed to be pretty drunk and was allowed to keep ordering bottles. Used to love this restaurant, but I cannot support a restaurant that seems to encourage this kind of behavior, especially for the price. I feel like I should be able to talk to someone across from me without screaming.
Omelette was so so, service a little behind and inattentive, coffee very weak. My wife though it was very cute and dainty, and wants to give it another shot because she believes it had potential, but I found my experience to be a let down. Price is fine though.
Great breakfast! Great service from the whole staff, water glass never ran dry. Good coffee, great food
Lovely early morning brunch. Great waitress, Dee, kept our coffee warm and friendly conversation going. Traditional eggs Benedict and the pork verde breakfast burrito were plentiful and great quality, and quick!Signage is tricky, just look for the black awning. Understand they are about to massively expand, can understand why after the quality of this breakfast!
We had a great lunch! Crystal and Willow were great servers! Our classic breakfasts were amazing! The eggs were cooked perfectly! If you’re ever in Charleston, this is the place to brunch!
We had a delightful brunch! Everything was wonderful from the mimosas to the meal to the service. We were having such a splendid time, we moved to Franklin's next door to continue the fun when Toast closed for the afternoon. Every staff member we encountered during our visit was pleasant and polite. Will definitely be back!
Was really looking forward to trying this place, but we never even got an opportunity to try the food. They said a 15 minute wait. We were the first big (5 people) group there. I understood when 2 people were sat before us but when a group of 6 people and a group of 10 people were sat before us, when we were there first and waiting longer. I began to get frustrated. I asked how much longer until we’re sat (it’s been 40 minutes) the host said “it’ll probably be 20 more minutes”. I really wanted to try this place but after that, we left.
We had high hopes for this restaurant. Nice website, menu looked good, and I figured that if they could afford the rent in the Rose District it must be good, right? We sat on the Toast side. Atmosphere is ok, sort of cute but basically average breakfast joint. I chose the chile salmon salad, my husband chose the green chile breakfast burrito and my friend ordered the bacon quiche. I had the worst meal. A below average salad in size and composition: some corn and red pepper slices surrounding spring mix with a salmon filet. The spring mix was NOT fresh: lots of slimy and dead pieces of lettuce. Seriously, for $17, I think fresh lettuce is not too much to ask for. The dressing was fermented—you know how food gets that fizzy, sharp almost bubbly taste when it’s old? Yep. Yuck. The only decent part was the salmon, which was cooked fairly well and tasted ok but had no chile seasoning at all. My friend’s quiche was over cooked and dry, but tasted ok. My husband was happy with the breakfast burrito. The home fries were nicely browned, decent but plain. We will not return. Waitress was very nice and manager was responsive and didn’t charge us for the salad.
I ate there for my birthday and got horrible food poisoning. Zero stars.
