A half hour waiting for food when the place is very obviously not busy. We had to self order and pay at a kiosk too.. so all they had to do was cook it and call out our number. I don't know why it is.. but we've had a lot of bad experiences at Steak n Shake at many different locations. It would seem they go out of their way to hire the worst staff. It's a shame as their food is usually pretty good.
The food is still good but you now have to order from a kiosk like the gas station and they have essentially doubled the prices. I totally understand that the cost of many things have increased but when you have drastically reduced your workforce thus lowering costs you should not then double the price of your food. I saw many other customers come in and be shocked at the change since the dine-in area has been closed for 2 years. None of the other customers looked happy about the change and we heard several say they will not be returning. One man walked up to the satisfaction guaranteed sign and dial the number with a very angry expression. The remaining staff are friendly and helpful and trying to help customers with the change they deserve extra praise for staying cheerful in the face of so many confused and often angry customers. Used to be one of my family's favorite diner style restaurants but I don't know if we will be back.
Look, my food and milkshake were just as good as every other time I’ve been here, but there weren’t any servers. I had to order from a damned kiosk. It now has almost a cafeteria feel to it than a sit down restaurant. I’d much rather be met with a smiling face and leave a tip as apposed to ordering from a computer. Kiosks don’t have bills to pay. Since it’s doubtful they’ll go back to the way it was, it’s doubtful I’ll be back.
On 2/5/22. Our order was placed at store 489 at 1:36pm. We waited over 20 mins. and still didn't have our food. I went to the counter to inquire and finally got our food. The ticket on the food said 1:57 pm. The food was handed to me at 7 min after 2pm. Needless to say it was cold and the order was wrong. Will never eat there again. Would give 0 stars if possible.
Man I may be getting older but back in my day Steak and Shake had thicker milkshakes and cajun seasoning. The menu was so much better. I'm not going to say anything about the service because hey it's a $4 burger,what do you expect. but I think that the quality has gone downhill significantly from the now thin milkshakes to the burgers. No fault to the employees. But expecting to be treated like you're at the Ritz-Carlton when you're buying a $4 meal is funny af
The food is as good as it always was, but they don’t have the seasoning anymore. I like that we can order from the screen, but I know some people might like having a server. My biggest issue was that a lot of the tables looked like they haven’t been cleaned. It was hard to find one that didn’t have crumbs or something on it that showed someone had eaten there.
They have amazing fries and Shakes! Too bad they got rid of my favorite sandwich which was the Mushroom Swiss burger. That was the one thing I always went for along with the milkshakes. They have the best milkshakes at a cheap price. So many different varieties to choose from.
I am usually a fan of Steak 'n Shake. With that being said.....We got there about 8:30 PMOur hamburgers were less than warm.Fries were no better.We ordered a side of cheese to dip the fries in, It was hotter than our meal. Very disappointed!!!
They hire children, and it’s madness because their employees have anger issues and their food is always disgusting. Whoever this girl is should be fired for acting like a child.
Went through the drive through ordered two meals. I added bacon to my garlic cheeseburger. Paid a dollar extra for it to get what is in the photo down below. It is not about the money but the misrepresentation. When I called back I got a younger girl on the phone and when I asked why I only received an inch piece of bacon on my sandwich she told me they were of short supply. So instead of just not offering it at all they gladly took my money and gave me what was offered. When I asked to speak with a manager she told me he wasn’t in and when I asked to take down my name and number she told me no and to call back tomorrow. I know Nick the manager personally and I would be ashamed if I had the people like the young girl that took my call that hung up on me three times and would not let me finish my sentence. All together I will be posting this on social media and giving a heads up to all other future customers about the mistreatment of this restaurant.
